Will Benji break the record?

I remember posting a poll near the start of last year asking who would break the record and when. Going from memory, my tip was Benji before the end of 2009\. If we had made the finals, I might have been right. If Tuiaki hadn't gotten injured, he would have probably broken the record that night against Parra.
I'd be happy to see Benji and Fitzy fight it out for a few rounds, one getting the lead then the other. At least that way we'd be sure to score a few more tries…

Fitzy wasn't our leading try scorer that season, Richarrds and Fatz were definitely above him.
But I won't let facts get in the way of your opinion.
It's false and patronising appraisal of an average first grader that is the source of frustration.
I wish him the best and have never questioned his passion, integrity or work ethic. On that basis it is clear that I do not disrespect the guy as a person. However as a player I think he only ever achieved the minimum requirements of a first grade winger after numerous chances. I don't think anyone remembers that Marshall magic at Shark Park for the support play by Fitzy.
In summary and to keep on topic think Marshall, Lawrence or Tuiaki are more deserving top try scorers for the club and am looking forward to them competing over that milestone.

Ill agree with you on that one Mona.
There are better players in the team that are worthy of the mantle.
Namely the 3 you mentioned.
It would be entirely fitting to see Benji get over the line and claim it.
Above all else, lets hope the tigers can get home this friday night.

for me the only reason i critisize fitzy is because i hate to see someone get a starting spot based purely on name when they arent offering much at all..which leaves all our young talent one spot behind in the line at getting into FG. though so far he hasnt done much wrong so i have held my tongue…he won us the game against manly..i mean, if he wasnt KO'd manly could of raked the ball and run away to win!

It's A Hard One.
Daniel has proven quite valuable to the side thus far, especially with his contribution from fullback over the weekend.
I also think that the past weekends game showed that in terms of our current defensive structure Daniel is not suited to our wing, especially the uncommon position for him as right wing.
He wouldn't be my first choice for a back on the bench, my first choice is starting in the 1 jersey this week, but he also wouldn't be my last.
I understand that some of the negative over-reaction is directly attributal to some of the positive over-stating of Daniels skill set.
For me it is summed up by a fellow I heard ranting on Sunday afternoon that Fitzy had cost us that game and that every try was partially his fault. This person was also under the impression that Ellis played well for the entire game (didn't believe me that he had been subbed off) nor would he believe that Fitzhenry moved to fullback at any stage.
Both extremes cause their share of frustration but I simply cannot understand the blind and irrational hatred that some people hold for a man pulling on the colours of the club that you support.

who would be complaining. the 2nd half when fitzy was FB was when we were are able to put points on against the roosters.his experience allows him to always be where he is needed to be on the park and is a great asset to the squad.

a game where fitzy doesnt do something dumb is rare, i mean he could of scored that try on the weekend he had to pin his ears back and go for it, lawry tuiaki or lote would of scored it, thats why fitzy isnt considered a good finisher i mean he averages 1 try every 3 games and for a winger on the end of our backline thats pretty poor

i know, but look at our wingers from 05 richards scored 22 tries was it? 07 lawry scored 15 from 18 games on the wing and TNT has killed it, beau ryan has a good record per games played too, even ayshford in the 3 or so games he played on the wing at the back end of 09 scored a couple tries basically every winger weve had from the last 5 years has managed a good strike rate with in 3 years id say fitzy would be a fair way down that list

Winning us games playing 5 mins...leading try-scorer,plays in all positions bar Prop....
Last week though he made a few bad reads in defense.but hey he wasn't on his own.....but then caught a couple of bombs and fixed injury problems we had during the game which was good...
Down the track I think there will be better options than Fitzy and he can come back and help Wests...we could use some FG experience.....

Also worth noting is that alot of the praise of Fitzy started after people were hoping he suffered a career ending injury and other such despicable things on the old forum
