Lockyer would hardly be a "shock move" considering he already announced he's retiring. Petero wouldn't be a "shock move" either.

Tigers are the team that are obvious here. The talk of "freeing up salary cap for his mates". I'm thinking it's Gareth Ellis. He's been home for the last few weeks, maybe he signed a contract with a Super League club while over there. Either that or there is some truth to the rumour of Benji being linked with the NZRU. Though if Benji were leaving it'd be a way bigger rumour. Ellis seems likely here.

Don't you think that unsubstantiated rumour and gossip have done enough damage over the past couple of weeks. People on here complain how shoddy The Telegraph is but these threads are just as bad and fuel the fires. Don't give me the old well its freedom of speech rubbish and I'm just stating my opinion because that's not good enough.

If you want to gossip or engage in spreading rumour I'm sure New Idea has a blog go and join in there with the sad bastards who have nothin better to do.

It's from the SMH, not the telegraph and discussing what has been quoted in a newspaper article is 100% permitted here.

If someone said "guys, i'm told it's 100% Benji Marshall" then we'd start looking at taking action. But otherwise it's fine.

Gareth could seem to fit the bill nicely. We can rule out the Broncos and Knights.

If this rumour is true, and it does concern a player at the Wests Tigers, I believe it could be Gareth Ellis. He has just been back to England, and he has expressed an interest to finish his career in England, and to me he hasn't looked real content recently.
I hope it isn't Gareth or any of our players - but I fear it may be, as it says in the article that the person is leaving to "free up" space under the salary cap :crazy 😛ray:
