Woods may have stayed if Ivan had come earlier

If he stayed I would like to think that he won't be captain because he had plans to leave. Someone else needs to step up.

Pissed all over the club for months and now we look as though we've got it together while the Dogs are going to pot he gets cold feet and wants to stay because the Dogs may need to cast off due to the cap? No thanks.

Just on the Dogs cap, if all they've brought over for next year is Woods and Foran and they've got to let one of them go to stay under the cap, how the hell are they going to be competitive with virtually the same side sans Reynolds? Foran is not going to make the difference up on his own. What a mess they're going to find themselves in…

It would be nice considering the mud dragged the club through, but it won't happen. We'll be left with another 3 or 4 years of "aahh ummm yeah it is what it is ya know?" representing us as club captain.

If the Dogs have to offload players they have real bad talent which no one will take. Klemmer, Jackson, Elliott, Hopoate and the often injured Morris twins.
They will be in a real mess if they don't lose a star or two.
They would have to subsidise Eastwood, Graham, Mbye etc.

? There would be more than a few clubs willing to take Klemmer, Jackson or Elliot.

Sorry I meant Klemmer, Jackson, Elliot, Hopa and the Morris boys were the only players they could move

I've heard it's entirely possible that Woods could stay

Are you hearing same thing as chammas ? Anything else to it

Same basic thing but from a different source. He wants to stay and the Dogs might need the cap space. Nothing compares concrete but it's a big possibility.

Actually hoping you are close to the mark yoss
Woods staying would be a big plus imo, although a new captain maybe ET or reynolds would be a better option
One more backrower plus rona

I know sports evoke more passion and emotion than almost anything is life but in any business decision emotion needs to be taken out of the equation so that you make a decision that is in the best interest of the "business" moving forward.

In my opinion anybody that says they don't want Woods to stay is making a decision with their heart and not their head. I agree that through his negotiations he didn't win any fans here at the Tigers but I think his actions on the field since then have shown that he is a true professional.

Keeping Woods would be the final piece to the puzzle for our forward pack and I think we would have a team of pigs that not only is tough and uncompromising but also has some flair and talent to trouble any pack in the comp. Just imagine Woods and Mats as starting front rowers, we are one of the highest rated offload teams in the comp and they would only take that to another level. Then you bring on Packer/Twal/Sue as our rotation and our ability to drive up the field doesn't miss a beat.

Back row combination using Lawrence/ET/Huth/McQueen/Aloiai and then back up players like Felise/Marsters/Grant to cover for injuries or drop off in form and I think we are in a position that we have not been in before and a forward pack that we have all been wanting for a VERY long time.

I would keep Woods as he would be good with our new guys coming , I don't care what he may have done as he would have been frustrated at seeing multiple coaches get the flick , office in a mess , but behind the seems maybe nobody new how much we had started to fix the office , and bring Ivan to our club , young guys sometimes make mistakes and can be let incorrectly , if he wanted to stay and we can cover his wage then I'm all for making our team competative , he would end our need for more power up front

Big Ben , Woods , Packer , Grant
ET , Twai , Houff , Josh , Lawrence
Reynolds , Brooks , Gamble
Matty , Jacob ,
Looks pretty good to me

I think the horse has bolted.

I doubt we could afford him if WT wanted to. I thought he was reportedly on $1.2m at Dogs? I think we'd be lucky to have left about $600k max to offer.

In a perfect scenario, that would be retain Eiso, ET, Woods, snare Rona, and get 4 cheap as chips rookies on minimum wage (including a back up hooker).

I have been scathing of Woods as I think he has lied the whole way through, but all he has to do is publicly say he made a mistake and all good. The club is certainly not innocent or blameless in this mess.

The dogs' cap issue could mean that Reynolds flips on his Wests deal.

If only the Roosters had a salary cap…

How can Grub flip? He's signed and delivered.

Heres hoping both Reynolds and Woods backflip. We snare Marsters younger brother and keep Lolohea at 5/8.

That makes no sense. He's signed to us. We have zero cap issues.

So the dogs have cap issues and had to let Reynolds go but are still over. However Reynolds will flip on his deal as they try to get under the cap.

Yep makes perfect sense.

We live in hope - if he comes that is good, if he doesn't we keep looking.

Lolohea is a FB not a 5/8 Milky - why does everyone want to play him out of position. Have a look at the clips in the 5 minute video posted on here - nearly every snippit he has a different number on his back 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 14 etc. no wonder he has never settled.

As for Masters younger brother - is he a realistic substitute for Teddy? - I wouldn't think so!

Steven Marsters was selected in one of the NZ Under Age squads. He is a very talented player.

No they have cap issues because they've got rep forwards on backended deals and then signed Foran and Woods. They were banking on a cap near or over $10m - they gambled and looks like they "lost". In reality even if Woods doesn't go they effectively got an option on him for free.

But they're in trouble and clubs know it. They're talking about losing Morris and Eastwood and still being over.

morris twins, graham, mybe, eastwood are on all back ended deals.

graham is 900-1mill next year alone.
eastwood 600k
morris twins 600k
mybe 700k

I think I understand why woods left. He was thrown the captaincy in a club in absolute turmoil with off field player issues, coaching issues, board issues, on field performance issues and very little support (I don't think there is any footy nous on our board) He had to front the media to defend indefensible decisions. He is not a born leader and not media savvy but he is showing plenty of leadership on field for mine.

I liken it a trunps media spokesperson…..it's a revolving door.

If JT had to apologise to Farah, then i don't see why Woods shouldn't be asked to apologise to the suppprters. Not because he signed with another club, but the way he went about it. He went on national tv and threw the entire club, the club he supposedly leads, under the bus because he thought the grass would be greener at Belmore. Did not take him long to realise it isn't and we are actually getting our house in order. Karma has hit him with a 2x4 and he's probably had a lot of sleepless nights over the last couple of months. But it is what it is.
