Woods on Cusp..

Nofoaluma and Tedesco this weekend

Woods ,Moses and Brooks next Leichhardt game

Gillett when we play Brisbane

Taumalolo when we play Cows

Only fair in my opinion

Woods (imo) is the best all round front rower in the game.
He makes the metres in attack and controls the middle of the field in defence.
Pre Woods, every team tried to go through the middle of the WTs ( now they go wide-Rhs).
Woods offloading ability in R1\. Gave our backs so much space. Plus he can play long minutes.

There are other front rowers that can hit harder in defence ,or be more explosive in short burst but I wouldn't swap Woods for anyother prop. And backs appreciated it. particularly Moses and Teddy's running game.

Signing Woods, imo will be a huge influencing factor on getting the other 3 on board. In terms of importance Teddy and Moses are probably more, but I think they really respect Woods as a captain and would be more inclined to stay if the big dog does.

Definitely agree, he is probably the best offloading prop in the game and skill is everything these days

He doesn't strike me as a prop that would be hard to tackle, but his ability to offload and get the ball rolling is second to none

He isn't Australian and NSW prop for no reason

Woods IS one of the best props in the game, but he isn't the most mobile, or the best offloader. Bromwich is.

Would be happy if Woods and Teddy are priority signings followed by Moses and Noffo.

Brooks can be replaced if we have to let one of the big 4 go.

Woods IS one of the best props in the game, but he isn't the most mobile, or the best offloader. Bromwich is.

Bromwich isn't doing much offloading at the moment.

Different props have different styles, I think it's a bit pointless when people try to identify "the best prop" or the best backrower, or the best centre even, in the game when every team carries 2-4 of them each week, and they all have different jobs to do.

Matt Scott has long been regarded as on of the better props and all he does is make metres and not miss tackles, there's little dimension to it. Andrew Fifita is hard to tackle and dangerous close to the line, makes a lot of tackles. Bromwich has a good combo of size and finesse, he makes yards and has good hands. Woods is built like a tree trunk, he ambles (top speed), attracts a lot of defenders and is hard to put on his back, with a sneaky offload.

Also, Jesse Bromwich plays for the Storm, even just being at that club does a lot for some player's ability / performance, that level of professionalism, coaching and overall good output across the team. Bromwich also happens to be 2 years older than Woods and debuted a season earlier.

Well said jirskyr. Woods cops alot of unnecessary flak on here because he isnt very aggressive.

Woods adds so much to our pack. He is a leader, slows down the play the ball in defence, amkes plenty of yards through the middle and is hard to bring down.

If he lost him it would set us back.

Teddy and Woods are essential signing with at least one of our halves. It would really hurt to lose Moses who i think has shown much more potential than Brooks. That said if a crazy offer comes in for him we shouldn't be held to ransom.

Got a feeling Woods and Tedesco will be announced in the next couple of weeks. Maybe in the lead up to the Storm game. The other 2 i can see dragging on well into the season like it did last year. I think they're more money orientated than the other 2 and if they got offered overs from another club, they'd take the money and run.

Spot on re Woods. Civoneceva wasn't very aggressive, but played a similar style to Woods - plenty of metres, hard to bring down and a great leader. He was never criticised, everyone thought he was great!

After hearing Woods on BSB this morning he doesn't sound like a bloke who is dead set committed to resigning IMO. All this "I'll wait and see what the other blokes off contract want to do first/I'll wait and see who the coach is first" crap is a bit concerning.
The board has had long enough now to decide whether JT is any good as a coach, they either need to bite the bullet and sign JT for another couple of seasons or tell the off contract players that there will be a new coach from 2018 onwards.
I wonder if the 4 off contract players want JT to be here long-term or whether they are waiting to see the back of him. The board need to find out the answer to that somehow before making their decision, if Teddy and Woods aren't supportive of JT then they aren't gonna stay if he does you wouldn't think. If we lose those 2 we havent got much left talent-wise. It would be a huge blow.
This umming and ahhing by the board needs to stop very soon, re-sign JT or get rid of him, either way make the decision pronto.

Two of the big four must love JT, every time they have a shocker and that is usually every second week JT can't get in media quick enough to praise them and blame others

That's it. They're still "learning". He defends them at every turn. Why would they hate him?

Not to forget the stock-standard line after a flogging "they played behind a badly beaten forward pack today". Well for Christ sake maybe if either of our halves could manage to get a few repeat sets with astute kicking or at least manage to not kick it out on the full or dead in-goal every friggin time then maybe our pack would have a bit more bloody energy left in the tank to enable them to lay a better platform.
