Woodsy #2040

His numbers and impact are nowhere what they were in 2014 and 2015

Why???

Captaincy impact?
Complacent?

He played 2 games in 1 week.
One of the games was the highest pinnacle of the game, intensity wise.
He was solid today.

He's one of the best front rowers in the comp.
Not good enough for u?
Gee….

Doesn't seem that interested to me this year. Like his heart is not quite in it.

DOnt get me wrong he has been good enough in most games. However his form has been a little down for his high standards.

People whinged about Farah as captain but at least he nailed the refs and showed some passion on the field,

Woods just runs around smiling. Thats his character im not bagging him however we need some mongrel in this side and this club.

Read a post somewhere on here from some one who had a conversation with Woods -
Said that it came across that Wood did not overly care for the team and it is just a job to him.

Take from that what you will, could be BS…..
Woods imo seems happy and knows the team is on the up.

If it was up to me though, Woods would not be captain.
I'd have Chris Lawrence (a true legend) or Mitch Moses (he'll lead us to a GF someday, great talker and a real leader on the field)

… Farah nailed ref's.....
He tried to... Like he tries to earn penalties from offside markers.... Our (c)s get very little from ref's...not just Robbie.

Wooods...i wonder if he really feels like he's earnt the captaincy?
He got it by default really... I agree with OP he's down on form compared to past years... Only he knows if the responsibility is weighing him down

Everyone always harps on about how great a leader Woods is. People involved around NSW camp have made comments that he may be NSW's next captain. I don't think Woodsy is the whinging type of captain like Graham, Gallen, Farah, Lyon, etc, he's a bit calmer and more of an action-over-words type of guy. What he says is generally clear, simple and to the point if you watch the post match. I would like to see him being a bit more vocal out there though and laying down the law so to speak a bit more.

Rowdy would be a great captain too. He is very well spoken, has a great football brain, he's honest and handles critisism really well. He's also extremely hardworking. I actually thought he deserved it more than Woods when it was announced, but having the VC next to his name has worked well.

Mitch is more of a loud mouth. Mitch plays with a lot of passion, but I could see him getting into trouble with referree's because he isn't very careful with how he does it. He has a bit of a knack for being a tad too agreesive when certain calls are made, it's just about control. He has a ton of attitude which is great for a young half but he needs time to mature and pick his battles or you'd find refs would just walk him away and he would become a bit of a pest and his opinions won't count for much.

Cam Smith is a great example of being able to manipulate refs. He has respect and a is able to get on side with them and it works. On the other hand it's probably a bit easier for him considering he's probably in the top 3 players in the game.

I'd like to see his numbers 2016 vs 2014-15 averages… I'd be stunned if they were not significantly down

If likely that Woods will not be capt next year then give Moses a chance the last few weeks of this year providing not too much responsibility on young shoulders.

I think Woods will warm into the role. But if they were to change id go for ET.

I'm not the biggest fan of Woods. He deserves credit for the metres he gains every game and, also, the number of tackles he makes. He has a big tank. However, many of us have said that his metres are not quality metres. He tends to rumble forward at slow pace and stay upright in a wrestle that gives the opposition defense time to set. I'd must rather see a forward bend the line by running run straight and hard before playing the ball quickly. Regarding the captaincy, I said, right from the start, that Lawrence should have been the man. 100% effort and commitment, articulate and isn't affected by Origin. I agree, Woods's form is down this year and that he looks a bit disinterested but looks can be deceiving.

That post was from me. I didnt have the conversation but a mate did. Woods made it clear he didnt rate the Tigers squad but that it was just a job. He wasnt fazed. He was critical of certain players.

Jesse Bromwich tonight 101 m, 28 tackles, 1 missed. I saw a few offloads but honestly I thought McLean had much more impact.

Woods 123 m, 26 tackles, 0 missed.

And Bromwich is supposed to be the comp's best prop.

And Woods played Origin 4 days ago.

I spoke to Aaron Woods 2 months ago and he told me rated our top 17\. Also that 2nd tier cap was preventing Griffin and Jordan Grant from getting a run.

What is it, Woods's turn to have the fans turn on him? It was Benji, then Robbie, then the young halves and now it must be Woods - talk about tall poppy syndrome. God help Tedesco if he gets a blues call up them plays a few games below his best, some of you lot will have sacked him off to England before you can say "Brexit".
