Leader in decoy runs because he's too much of a princess to take the line on. All hail King plodder

Not his call whether or not he takes a decoy run. Decoys by definition make themselves available to take a run. You can't be a decoy standing out the back afraid to take a hit up.

A better criticism would be to suggest that he takes a million decoys because the halves don't want to pass it to him.

The Hooth gets a bad rap on here. One of those players who isn’t a star so he cops it for being average. As if there is no inbetween.

It just highlights that a lot of people on here don't pay attention to the 1% details off the ball.

I am with you! I don't understand where the negativity comes from. He only started playing first grade last year. I think he has done really well for his age, adversity and the amount of work he gets through. Similar player to Bruce McGuire, David Brooks, and Bucketts O'Neill. You don't win comps without these type of players who work hard and don't eat up too much salary cap.

Seems like we love players….until they pull on a WT jersey.

Why the constant concern over stats? Fullbacks run 150m and everyone gets a fat! The guys run 30m each time they catch the ball, Id hope they would be up there somewhere. Some forwards do 15 hit ups and get 60m, and people claim he is a plodder or a dingleberry.

Seriously, get away from the numbers and watch the game. Some bloke might only do 20 tackles and you all say how lazy he was, doesn't clarify that each time the opposition gets the ball they are sh**scared to run at him so it forces play the other side.

Get off the numbers and watch the game. You'll see what impact they have.

Totally disagree Bruce Mcguire, David Brooks and Mark O'Neill ran hard at the line - The Huth invariably slows down as he gets to the line.

Maybe a bit similar in defence but certainly not in attack.

X2 - it’s his post contact metres that I would like to see, I don’t think they would be great. What is disappointing is his lack of an offload for a big guy. With no offload or power into the line, he doesn’t really have an attacking threat.

His defence is sound but again, for his size, I would like to see some intimidation factor as well.

Do you think Hooth has been instructed not to offload? I've seen Hooth offload before and Twal used to have a reputation for it in his junior days, but both play straight-laced footy - no offloads, very few missed tackles, tight work around the ruck.

Hooth is a plodder for sure, his top speed is snail, but he's got big wings and defends the middle well. I am certain he could start to offload if it was in the gameplan, but currently they use him for late-tackle field position, decoys and passing distribution to the halves.

Yeah! I agree with that summation of the Huth - have seen him with many good offloads, however they were always at the expense of metres gained as he slowed, turned and then offloaded. He is a keeper though.

According to previous coaches no one was noticing the 1%ers in Adam Blair’s game. Should have extended him.

Pretty much. Playing league I was always taught to expect the ball, as if I was meant to actually take a hit up. If you actually listen to the players talk on the field often you hear the "decoy" runners call the ball to try and put the opposition off.

When the commentators say "blah blah X halfback decides to play short instead of out the back blah blah" hes talking about the decoy runner getting the ball. Brooks does it to link rowdy all the time
