Worst Tigers Team

It’s pretty much forgotten how well Cleary had us playing at the start of 2018.
I can’t dispute the record. It was the best set for some years and hasn’t been matched.
I will dispute the plan and style.
It was smart coaching I’ll give him that, he had us fight for every inch and dig out a win. Encouraging attitude.
However, did it come at any surprise that by round 6 having won 5 games we still weren’t considered a shoe in for the eight?
The reason? We never looked to be convincing in our wins.
Whilst other teams built their style along the course of the season and that progression enabled them to continue to be competitive and win games.
We went into game one with a do or die attitude that required 100% effort and commitment and 0% flare and skill.
We couldn’t sustain it.
We couldn’t even beat the Roosters during the origin break - Tedesco, Latrell and Cordner.
Conversely the Roosters started slow, all the questions were asked when we beat them in round 1 but they built into the season.
Other fast starters that season, Warriors and Panthers all whooped us in round 9 and 11 and despite dipping towards the end of the year still made the 8.

And Terry Hill always injured. Didn't we win sometimes from a Corey Pearson late offload?
Actually, if I recall correctly, we got dudded on that one. One of our forwards, possibly Pearson, through a beautiful round the corner pass right on full time that would have won the game. Got called forward. Absolutely was not forward. Possibly against Canberra or Cronulla?

That was against the Raiders in Canberra. Trent Clayton was the player who scored.

That is exactly the game I was remembering. I think it was 2003. Yes, dudded!

All I see from this team is winning is all too hard ,but the pay check is simple. They are only there for the money and nothing else. We don't have anyone of origin quality and it would not surprise me one bit that they are out to get the coach sacked, seen it all before.
