You may be spot on there, judging by some responses on here, if they are any indicator for the wider community

I certainly hope so,it would be good to see corporate responsibility in this area

The best thing with the anti-vaxs is they won't be around for long. If the virus does not get them, they will not be able to Travel, Work, go to the movies, clubs, pubs, restaurents etc, this is a fact, it's only a matter of time. The sad thing is how many will become seriously ill or die, because of their actions,or i should say their stupidity.

Delta is bad enough wait till it mutates into something worst … if you do not want the jab your choice you are the Walking Dead my advice is take out a Funeral bond as your family will need it.. it’s only a matter of time just the next person walking past you !

It's not that bad but you must be mad not to get vaccinated.

More deaths. One of those was partially vaccinated. The others were of course unvaccinated.

Not getting vaccinated is like playing russian roulette.

To anyone who thinks the one partially vaccinated person is somehow significant it's not. You need to be fully vaccinated.

Just a note everyone, there's no need to call people other pieces of shit because you don't agree.

There's a lot I don't agree with in this thread but for whatever reasons people have come to the conclusions they have with whatever exposure they've had to information they've come by.

I'm all for discourse and a healthy/vigourous debate, but I've already deleted posts due to very aggressive personal attacks. You're not going to convince anyone, or earn their respect to be heard out, by calling them a "piece of shit."

Its not an attack. Im seriously concerned for people's health and welfare. There are deaths occurring from blood clots. This is fact

A 20 year old man died of covid today, that is a fact, an alarming fact at that

I keep stating this. These crazy beliefs are already killing people. It's not a joke.

His Mum also has it and has been taken to hospital

that's no joke..

It is to people like @tiger beach and @philgood. To them this is a political debate. The political debate is much more important to them than people dying.

Just think on that for a minute. They would much rather stick to their alternate reality and have people die than admit they have it completely wrong.

I mentioned those removalists that went to Melbourne. It was a joke to them. Their mum is dead in her 50's. She could have taken a vaccine and she would still be alive.

That is reality.

The poor woman that died did so of a heart attack, no doubt attributable to the stress she was under with all of the media attention

But since she had tested positive, you know the drill , "died with covid"

So when someone dies in a car accident, do you say they died in a car accident, or do you argue that the car accident isn't what killed them, it was the broken neck/brain injury/crushing injury/loss of blood/displaced organs that killed them?

Where Covid has been rampant (eg UK, and USA etc ) it is 1 in 500 die. That's not 1 in 500 that get Covid die it is 1 in 500 of the population die of Covid. Additionally to that is the long Covid issue where those that get Covid suffer for months and some never fully recover.

If Covid gets a hold here, your changes of dying are 1 in 500. Good luck.

If you want to play Russian Roulette with your health and go to packed events like the footy while unvaccinated, you should be free to do so.

Those unvaccinated folks increase the risk for vaccinated persons.

Vaccinated persons can still get COVID, can still transmit it, and can still get sick. Vaccines aren't perfect. That's the part a significant number of the "hesitants" can't get their head around, that vaccines are about population-wide risk reduction, not a perfect drug that cures everything. So every time there's a vaccinated infection or hospitalisation, they jump up and down like baboons and screech at the vaccine.

But if you give enough people vaccine over time, the disease cannot take hold in populations and gradually the infection rates subside. This is how we conquered polio, smallpox, got on top of measles, mumps, rubella, typhoid etc.

COVID may mutate like flu and we'll need annual boosters. Or it won't and instead be more like measles where you need high vaccination rates and vigilance if there are outbreaks.

But the issue with unvaccinated is they have the highest risk of everything - of death, serious disease, viral load, transmission, severity of sickness, duration of sickness. Large populations of unvaccinated for a novel disease increase the chance of viral mutations, like delta strain.

So overall it's not just about the ethics of trying to keep unvaccinated people safe (for their own good), it's about preventing the highest at-risk population from exposing that risk to vaccinated populations. It may well be that ultimately the risk of increase COVID infections at the football is no worse than the train station or shops, but specifically for smaller indoor venues like cafes, cinemas, gyms etc. there may be a significant risk increase.

All good points. I've thought about many of these.

I think largely it's a question of where the balance is between a private venue operator's right and responsibility to minimise risk and at what point that becomes discrimination on health/medical grounds.

No doubt there will be some test cases in the not too distant future that will make this clearer.

Refusing entry to the unvaccinated is obviously one way to deal with the risks, but there might also be other risk reduction measures, like masks, rapid testing, capacity limits or an innovation that does not exist yet.

What's more, if you have 5 people you really care about the chances of losing one of them is 1 in a 100.

Big family? Lot of friends? Let's say there are 50 people you would hate to lose, the odds are now 1 in 10.

Part of a vibrant community of passionate, enlightened souls who know that vaccines are only designed as a form of control? If you planned to send 500 Christmas cards to these people you should only buy 490 as 10 were killed by something they didn't think was worthy of any concern.

If you or the people on the above secanrios are primary school kids you can safely say there is less risk than the above.

If you or the people you care about are older adults, say 60+, then the odds above do not even come close to describing the hurt you are in for. But don't worry because I saw on Facebook that old people die anyway so that's good!

Oh, and ignore my name, I'm under 40 and fully vaccinated. I'm worried about the people around me, even the ones I don't know, even the ones who endanger my family and friends because they can't accept the current situation.

No, that doesn’t inspire me to vaccinate, but I’ll certainly have a shot if it meant saving a life, particularly my own 😉
