WT board: pull your heads in

That 'decision' last night was an absolute disgrace. Are they too thick to realize that it won't do anything to quell rumors?

IMO, they're not interested in quelling rumours. The agenda is to rid themselves of Mick so they can get another coach for less cash.

Potter is already the lowest paid coach in the NRL - how much are they going to pay the next coach? $2 a week?

Can these idiots not see that the club is progressing on the field. Will be a disgrace if they let him go.

if gina rinehart ran the club that would be top dollar for the coach.

Oh, really? If you follow her statements in the media, they are mostly about trying to get Australia to match Asian pay standards; except, of course, for her!

As much as they paid Potter when he started, who as a third year coach if he activates his clause should they make the finals, would be due a significant raise imo

I'm surprised the NRL haven't stepped in and replaced the board with an administrator until the new sanctioned board is put in to place. This saga is not good for the game or the club. The only way to stop it is to take away the power of some of the stakeholders.

Which stakeholders should loose power?

Anyway, the NRL asked WT to run an independent football operations review so BEFORE the 3 independents come in and hence it was done. Can"t blame board for this.

If the 3 independents were there or even if they were all independent once senior players gripe about the coach board members will listen whoever they are. This blaming of the board on this issue is only an attempt to weaken the hold the founding clubs have on the WT something I disagree with.

The blame completely must rest on faulty media articles on game day which stated falsely that Potter was to go Sunday which didn't happen and players will walk out if he is reappointed which dosen"t look likely.

Next blame must fall on the players who aired stuff to the media who have been gunning for the WT and especially Robbie for a while. IT gave the ammo they needed.

meh, Im now glad that the current directors have shown themselves to be all but incompetent in controlling recent events and thus a football club.

I wasnt keen on independents at all originally, but we are now in a situation where 3 new faces can now step in and if are in any way competent, all but disregard input from the standing clowns who let a couple of stray sparks blow up into a firestorm which could have easily been contained.

We are a mafia organisation. The so called powerful Wests group. There not powerful, Canterbury Leagues are powerful.
Remember a while back, if corruption was never exposed with the Oasis project, the Bulldogs would have waltz into Liverpool, Wests territory. The powerful Wests group gave them the red carpet run. You try doing that to the Bulldogs. A powerful group of useless conmen.

I'll have to disagree with you Magic.
Blame cannot be directed to the media. Media people do what media people do, sell their 'news'. I've worked a fair bit with the media, distrusted the lot of them, and avoided working with them whenever I could. They might be pond scum but they're only doing their jobs. They don't have any direct responsibility for the Tigers club/team/brand.
So who does have responsibility for the Tigers club/team/brand? Everyone employed there. It is clear, somebody leaked sensitive stuff to the media. We still don't know who that was.
A player has been directly implicated in that, and has not yet expressed direct support for the coach, I.E 'I want him to stay as coach'. Possible blame to be laid there.
The board has been directly accused of wanting to miss this years finals so as to not be embarrassed. They have done nothing to defend themselves and have carefully avoided expressing ongoing support for the coach. Why? Possible blame to be laid there.
Blaming this cesspool on the media will not make it go away. The problems are within our club. The media pointed the gun, somebody at the Tigers loaded it.

The board is lame duck and lacking in leadership quality. They should appoint their spokeperson and clarify whatever position they take, instead of letting the media speculate.
They should have given assurance to the coach and put to rest all these speculations.
By keeping quiet, they are fanning the speculation. Time the board show some leadership quality. Meyer, why are you hiding? Haven't you got anything to say for yourself or for the club?

You are being kind to Brian Smith, don't forget what he did at the Knights…

It's about time the board have finally decide to act. At lunch in an organised media interview the chairman of the board will confirm that it has been disappointed with speculation that they have offered nothing in killing off ongoing drama.
After last Sundays meeting the board agreed to keep Potter till at least the end of the year, whilst trying to find answers of who is responsible for the mess in the first place.
The 3 responsible are as we all suspected Tim the Tiger, Mark the Magpie and Grant Mayer.
The first two apparently admitted to being stuffed, while Mayer is yet to respond. Sources within the club can reveal he's the next to get stuffed.

No further comment till after the media has been addressed.

What evidence is there that the board wanted the club to miss the finals?

And what evidence was there that there would be a walk out of player's if Potter was resigned as media was saying?

Now the media is telling us that Potter will be dropped at years end by board that they and most here are writing off. By that time the independent members will be part of that decision making process.

How can we be certain that board was to sack Potter last Sunday anyway in view of their proven failings?
