So if zerotackle is correct we have Eisenhuth , Clark ,Jennings , Rowdy , Benji , McIntyre , McQueen , Seyfarth , Dylan Smith and Elijah Taylor off contract at seasons end

If I kept 3 ........Huth ,McIntyre ...maybe Clark

Big no to Clark. Doesn’t cut it for me.

Well 2 then ......still we won't have millions available on our cap like Gus mentioned

I'd say 1.8 - 2.0 million max ..and that will have to cover 8 spots with the cuts to squads numbers next season

We have over $300k in cap fines available next year

Well just chucking numbers out

McQueen was reported at 375 k
ET probably mid to high 400 k
Lawrence around 200 k
Marshall around 250 k
Add the fine in 350 k from memory
Add 4 players on league minimums 400 k

That's around 1.9 -2.0 million

There is no point adding players on minimum wage, because you have to replace them and have to pay at least minimum.

Whether we do or don't that's the approximate cap amount not including the 4 that we'd let go

Still far from the 3 million Gus reported on Friday night

Corey Thompson was on 600K

You signed him obviously ......

The quote Gus made was I think was an exaggeration of such and it was not in reference to next year.
I can’t remember word for word but it was along the lines of;
“ there a top 8 contender certainly the tigers, the won’t get there this year but they are certainly on the improve and building nicely, and when you factor in they took on that Rabbitohs team down on troups tonight with about 3million sitting on the sideline through either suspension or not being selected for whatever reason.”

Packer
Joey Leilua
Twal
Musgrove
McIntrye
Talau
Jennings
McQueen ‘edit’
And Seyfarth were all missing from that game.
Obviously Seyfarth and McIntrye are relative unknowns but I think his comment was more directed to Packer, Leilua, Twal, McQueen and Robbies fine and even still I don’t think that gets us to 2million.

I think it might be upwards of 2m, closer to 3m. The following is rough lowballed guesses. Probably at least these amounts but maybe higher (?)

Packer 700, Joey 450 (1.15), Twal 300 (1.45), Musgrove 200 (1.65), McIntyre 150 (1.8), Talau 150 (1.95), Jennings 300 (2.25), McQueen 300 (2.55) plus Robbie/Pascoe 335 (2.885)

Can’t see the grub hanging in for another season if a ESL club make him a good offer so that may free a up a large chunk of cap space, although you would think we still would carry some of the coin. As for Packer, can’t see him going anywhere till his contract expires. Of course the bottom line, you can have a massive war chest but it’s another thing getting quality players to take some of the money you have on offer

He would have been if he just left easts, we cant buy players for $200k and get $600k cap space when they leave like easts do

We know all to well, we couldn't even double Latrell's wage and get him onboard, as it turns out probably for the better, but the fact is we can't land a big fish, we get barely legal ones or the ones John West rejects

There has to be new blood added the only one for me is McIntyre the rest can go ! thanks for your services .. the average players have to be replaced with players that will go to the next level .. there are spots available and money to accommodate the desired changes make it happen .

I'd be keeping Eisenhuth, Clark, McIntyre and Momo on... Maybe Benji for one year solely as a depth player like how Madge used him this year.

Yes to the 4 keepers but a firm no to Benji.

Kepaoa, Doueihi, Brooks and Stefano the only players signed for 2023. hopefully we begin negotiations with important members of the squad that are able to talk to rival clubs for after 2021.

Fine with of those except Clark. He’s the definition of a plodder. And with the depth we’ll have up front, I doubt he’d be needed.

Unbelievable we're paying $1m for McQueen, Taylor and Rowdy.

Obscene waste of money which could have been used on real talent.

We are paying $950k for Mybe, then you need to Add Reynolds $750k
Packer on $700k now you can see where some of the $ is spent???
This is part of the reason not a Top 8 team.
Agree there is not much talent on the open market except for Blake Green, Kieran Foran, Alex Johnston, Jesse Bromwich to name a few not that i am advocating we sign them rather keep the dollars and upgrade younger performing players the following season and retain.

Hopefully we could have a better roster with what I estimate would be about $2M in salary cap freed up if we cut Benji, Rowdy, McQueen, ET, Jennings and either Clark or Eisenhuth loose. Add in the $350k our cap was penalised this year for the Pascoe fine. Add in about $800k if we can get someone to take Reynolds and Packer while we pay half their salaries.
That's a tidy war chest. There are some good players off contract or wishing to leave clubs. We'll be competing with Warriors, Manly and others for them though.

Under 21s comp for 2021 soon to be announced.

I have it on good authority some of our younger players are being targeted by other clubs. They are on the front foot it seems.

Very frustrating!
