Hopefully we could have a better roster with what I estimate would be about $2M in salary cap freed up if we cut Benji, Rowdy, McQueen, ET, Jennings and either Clark or Eisenhuth loose. Add in the $350k our cap was penalised this year for the Pascoe fine. Add in about $800k if we can get someone to take Reynolds and Packer while we pay half their salaries.
That's a tidy war chest. There are some good players off contract or wishing to leave clubs. We'll be competing with Warriors, Manly and others for them though.

Under 21s comp for 2021 soon to be announced.

I have it on good authority some of our younger players are being targeted by other clubs. They are on the front foot it seems.

Very frustrating!

Why is it frustrating? A bit close to home? Since Hartigan got here we've been really proactive in recruitment and retention.

That’s encouraging to hear.

If it were close to home would it matter? The players would get an opportunity elsewhere.

As a Tigers supporter it is frustrating if we lose players we want to keep but haven’t kept in contact. Some of these include SG Ball and JF that have won player awards in recent years so must go ok you’d think? We’ve let talent go before so hopefully we have learnt our lesson.

If they haven’t been kept in the loop because we don’t want them, then business is business and that is fine also.

Fair enough but same goes for the club, why would they recruit them and train them only to let them go?

Only reason I ask if it's close to home is because your post implies that you know that our players are being poached or at a risk of it but gives no further info as to who or how you know.

In light of Ryan Matterson's acrimonious exit from the Wests Tigers to link with Parramatta last year, the NRL is considering banning clubs from offering more money than the players stand to earn in their existing contracts

In Addo-Carr's case, the NSW Origin winger wouldn't be able to earn more than $400,000 at a Sydney club next year, despite his manager chasing $800,000 for his client as a fullback.

Addo-Carr convinced the Storm that it wasn't for financial but family reasons that he wanted out of Melbourne at the end of the year. Word has gotten back to the Storm that Tartak is asking Sydney clubs for in excess of $800,000 a season.

Tartak is playing a dangerous game because the Storm don't have to release Addo-Carr. They also won't do so unless they get a replacement they are happy with.

The Herald reported last week that Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire has reached out to Addo-Carr, just don't expect the Bulldogs to follow suit. We're told they are "not interested". The Tigers aren't convinced he is a fullback, either. The Bulldogs and Tigers are both looking to lure Penrith rookie sensation Charlie Staines to their respective clubs.

I really hope that sense prevails and we don't bring him back on $800k a season when he is worth $400k.
Another Latrell Mitchell if possible he would rather be playing at Souths but they have cap issues.

Mybe, Reynolds, Brooks other suggestions.

Should new players contracts be alined to the Coach's contract that way if a coach moves on the new coach is not stuck with a squad he does not want.

Just a suggestion.

No player would want that, but almost all clubs and fans would. It would be a great idea.

All forum members trying to put a value moving forward on what we actually have in our cap. Can anyone verify if they know what players are actually on and what subsidy from other clubs?
Also unsure if we are still paying for former tigers players at other clubs now, can't think of any but could be incorrect.

The following are off contract at the end of this season:
Marshall
D Smith
Jennings
Seyfarth
Lawrence
McQueen
Taylor
Grant (back to Storm)
Eisenhuth
Clark
McIntyre

Now take a hard look at that list and tell who you would re-sign if anyone. I'd take McIntyre as he's young, has done a job this year and we need depth, and he provides good depth in that regard. The same can be said for Eiso but at full strength he doesn't make next year's team if we get the recruits we're after. I'd consider him as a depth signing only. There's not enough upside in any of the other players that I can see.

No one knows that answer..you could give ballpark gestamates based on some reported media figures..but there would be very few that would know the exact details..they work for Wests Tigers doubt they would divulge that info..

Agreed however even some estimates would be good, only reason i state this is if we off load some players what is the Subsidy. I do understand we should be under paying by $325k this season and last because of the CEO/Farah non deal.

Unless I missed him, you got to add Momoroviski in there too, for 2021/2022 (I think)

I've read some people aren't sure he is even signed up for another two years as well. So who knows mate.

Too many deals being done for reasons we don’t know. We had Matheson Johns trial really well and is offered nothing and then we go and sign Kepaoa when Sonny Bill needs a spot. He’ll leave and so would I.

Sad thing is if they all played with previous good form we would most likely be in the 8

From what I’ve recently listened to about list management and building a roster you want to be paying less then the players expected cost due to output.
In that regard I would actually take Seyfarth on a min wage over Eisenhuth.

Wests Tigers to part ways with club icon Benji Marshall against his wishes

Wests Tigers will part ways with club icon Benji Marshall after this season against his wishes, according to a new report.

The Sydney Morning Herald's Michael Chammas reported that Wests Tigers would speak with the off-contract Marshall in coming days to confirm that he's not part of their future plans.

Marshall, 35, is on just $300,000 per season but the Tigers are mired in salary cap problems. The Herald reported that fellow halves Josh Reynolds and Luke Brooks were each on $800,000, with Reynolds considered expendable but still contracted with the club for another season.

A stack of other halves options - Jock Madden, Billy Walters, Adam Doueihi and Moses Mbye - have made Marshall surplus to needs, though the club is trying to be delicate with his exit due to his legend status. He is expected to play the remainder of the season despite not being in coach Michael Maguire's 2021 plans.

Marshall wants to play on, despite turning 36 before next season, with Chammas touting Newcastle and Manly as possible destinations for the brilliant five-eighth.

This will be Marshall's second departure from Wests Tigers, where he was a hero of the fairytale 2005 premiership. He left in 2013 for a brief stint in rugby, then played for the Dragons and Broncos before returning to the Tigers in 2018.

He has played 253 NRL games for Wests Tigers and 320 games in total.
