All forum members trying to put a value moving forward on what we actually have in our cap. Can anyone verify if they know what players are actually on and what subsidy from other clubs?
Also unsure if we are still paying for former tigers players at other clubs now, can't think of any but could be incorrect.

Lawrence
McQueen

Eisenhuth
Clark
McIntyre

Now take a hard look at that list and tell who you would re-sign if anyone. I'd take McIntyre as he's young, has done a job this year and we need depth, and he provides good depth in that regard. The same can be said for Eiso but at full strength he doesn't make next year's team if we get the recruits we're after. I'd consider him as a depth signing only. There's not enough upside in any of the other players that I can see.

From what I’ve recently listened to about list management and building a roster you want to be paying less then the players expected cost due to output.
In that regard I would actually take Seyfarth on a min wage over Eisenhuth.

Definitely not Seyfarth. Nothing impressive just making up the 17 really. I would keep D Smith, ET, HUTH, Mcintyre. That is it. I reckon they might resign Clark but i don't see anything in him either. The only one out of them I would have on a good long term contract is Mcintyre. Played awesome against Penrith and is just overall a workhorse.

We currently have 25 players contracted for next year, including Momo.

I we can't unload anybody, and if we retain the 4 you mentioned that makes 29 spots taken and only 1 vacancy.

We have very little scope to upgrade the quality of the squad.

Smith, ET and Huth can go, and probably will all go. We're not going to move forward as club with those types of players in the team.

Will only be 28 places next year and 2 to 4 developments to allow for the 5% cap reduction required. Should cut back player payments by 5% and keep 30 but that won’t happen

Wests Tigers to part ways with club icon Benji Marshall against his wishes

Wests Tigers will part ways with club icon Benji Marshall after this season against his wishes, according to a new report.

The Sydney Morning Herald's Michael Chammas reported that Wests Tigers would speak with the off-contract Marshall in coming days to confirm that he's not part of their future plans.

Marshall, 35, is on just $300,000 per season but the Tigers are mired in salary cap problems. The Herald reported that fellow halves Josh Reynolds and Luke Brooks were each on $800,000, with Reynolds considered expendable but still contracted with the club for another season.

A stack of other halves options - Jock Madden, Billy Walters, Adam Doueihi and Moses Mbye - have made Marshall surplus to needs, though the club is trying to be delicate with his exit due to his legend status. He is expected to play the remainder of the season despite not being in coach Michael Maguire's 2021 plans.

Marshall wants to play on, despite turning 36 before next season, with Chammas touting Newcastle and Manly as possible destinations for the brilliant five-eighth.

This will be Marshall's second departure from Wests Tigers, where he was a hero of the fairytale 2005 premiership. He left in 2013 for a brief stint in rugby, then played for the Dragons and Broncos before returning to the Tigers in 2018.

He has played 253 NRL games for Wests Tigers and 320 games in total.

No offence intended to Benji, but if he goes on next year to another NRL side, well sucked in to them because he is cooked imo. But if Benji does that, then he's an idiot.

He has so much to offer Rugby League over the next decade, but if he wants to do anything other than be a commentator, it can only be with us, and he has to stop dilyl dallying with other team for that to occur. He's already played for two other NRL sides and a Rugby Union side, if he wants to add another one to that list then he's a renegade and not a Tiger.

He could be great for us, helping us to recruit by luring in youngsters, and that would keep building upon his legacy. Your future Benji is not on the field, accept that, or ruin the future you should be having with us.

James Tamou will make a decision on his future next week.

The 31-year-old former Test and NSW Origin prop will decide whether to remain at Penrith or join the Wests Tigers next season.

A switch to the Tigers will be seen as a boost for the club amidst a rath of off-field issues.

Tamou could be joined by Melbourne and NSW State of Origin winger Josh Addo-Carr at the Tigers.

Player market is hotting up now that decisions are being made who to retain and who to let go?

Tamou some say to slow but in a good system has developed younger players and won a premiership at the cowboys and looking a contender this year, plus a genuine Captain.

Was not convinced on JAC prior but looking at his form of late and genuine pace now not against it, however still think he wants fullback $ and might be too expensive.

Thought i would review if JAC came back to the Tigers who he would know from 2016.
Must state surprised with how little playing group left from that season, see we have already had a mass clean in 4 years.
Of the players that were there at the same time and now,

* Luke Brooks
* David Nofoaluma
* Michael Chee-Kam
* Josh Aloiai

Would love a signing to be announced just to get the media off our backs for a little. Anyone would think we were last by 6 points by the way the media are carrying on..

Well when players are feeding the Media stories the more we will get talked about, a WIN tends to help the chatter decrease.
Phil Slothfield also likes to report everything bad against the Tigers although i take little notice of what he writes.

And counting personally find it odd that that Penrith have not tabled a new contract to there Captain that will win the minor premiership this season.

Chasing the $ then understandable but this is how we have come undone prior signing a player for more $ than another club is willing to pay (Captain as well) and when he comes to us past there prime and don't add much value.

The telecrap will over inflate the contract price and then rubbish WT for paying overs.

Interesting in the Tele today saying top 30 will likely remain with 2 to 4 development players. That’s a significant difference to 26

Maybe its a bit of that but the real deal was that the Panthers were happy to keep him only on a 1 year deal, he wanted 2 more years.

I hear it will be confirmed this week that he will be joining the Tigers next season as has already agreed to terms.

Is it a good Signing well only time will tell but is currently the Club captain of the minor premiers in 2020, has won a premiership with the Cowboys, is 195 cm (6'5) and 115kg.

Will be 32 years of age - 2 years is a smart option at his age unlike some of the other contracts we have signed in the past.

Thought Huth lifted his game against Rabbits but too little too late for me and I think if we are fair dinkum about improving our squad we probably need an upgrade on Huth as well. Certainly Sam M is the only player of those that are off contract that I would re-sign. The only other player that comes close for me is Taylor as he has some great attributes, but again probably falls short if we want to improve our pack further.
With roster numbers looking likely to stay at 30, the question is how many more spots do we need to free up, assuming JAC and Tamou are signed, inorder to get a couple more signings??
