Totally unrelated to us but just heard on morning news Parramatta aren't happy...apparently Ryan Matterson is shopping himself around....absolute tool of the highest order

tamalolo would be a massive signing would compete our pack, one can dream

He is getting a million a season now,we would be very foolish to chase him for that sort of money

How risky is it signing an impact forward like that to a million a year for 10 years.

How many good years would you realistically expect to get out of them?

The Cowboys haven't planned for life after Thurston well at all

Molo off to the Dragons as well ...paid way overs for McGuire

They are in real strife ...lots of talk Holmes wants out as well

Wonder if Dean Young is watching for a possible head coaching position or has Payten got the Pest guys ....

Michael Morgan also has fallen off a cliff - shadow of the player he was

Yep, these long contracts are very risky no matter who it is.

If you have to pay overs I'd much rather pay overs on a player for 2 years at 900k a season than for 5 years at 700k a season.

So many clubs have been screwed for these long big contracts over the years: Titans, Dragons, us x 2, Newcastle a few years ago, Dogs, Probably Dogs in 2 years etc.

I like the direction Hartigan is going.

There are 10 players from the top 30 not signed for next year:
Tom Amone
MCK
Cini
Liddle
Mikaele
Packer
Seyfarth
Walters
Roberts (CO)
BJ (CO)

Plus 2 vacant positions to fill this year

And 2 new signings:
Hastings
Gildart

Which means we have 10 spots to fill for next year.

Who do we retain from this year?

I'd say we try to keep (in order of priority):
Liddle
Seyfarth
Mikaele
Roberts (CO)
Cini
Tom Amone

Say bye to:
MCK
Packer
BJ
Walters

Which means we need to make 4 more signings for next year, which 2 will likely actually be signed this year given we have 2 vacant spots still to fill.

Unless we have development players who have automatic topic spots for next year, anyone know?

Edited: i got my maths wrong, we have 10 spots to fill not 8, I didn't account for the 2 CO

I know people will not agree but looking at this list we have done very well with recruitment in the last 12 months compared to years gone past.. Considering we have had Cap problems and not making finals for 10 year, I think we have turned a corner and we will start to get the results in 2022 onwards.. Just need a couple of top line players to connect it all..
Also we have not overpaid for any players except Nofo..

As WT'S supporters I think we may have set our sights a little high this year and I think next season we will be a better side and also in years to come with our Junior talent coming through.but in saying that I still think we are a chance of making the 8 or regaining our 9th position

Not sure MCK would be gone, probably not a first grader, but a good depth player and I would assume isn’t costing a lot?
