I truly believe Hodges & Tavana would develop immensely with a full preseason with the NRL squad. I’d run backwards to Campbelltown with my pants around my ankles if they didn’t improve to NRL quality next season (with a full NRL preseason) lol

Yeah..they go under the radar a bit…they probably came 8th a couple of times …

Ponga was amazing in 2023 … they won 10 games in a row and he won the Dally M … he was winning games single handed that year

With respect to Mac his comments on Luai were some of the most nonsensical garbage i’ve ever heard on a Tigers podcast & I question what Rugby League knowledge he has if he thinks that the team would be on more of an upward trajectory if Tanah Boyd was in the halves. I understand it’s frustrating being a Tigers fan at the moment but that whole tirade was just pure delusion.

On stats that you measure half-backs

Jerome Luai is equal 30th for try assists with 7. Equal with To'a and Doueihi. 1 behind both Brooks and Galvin. Scrapheap players CHT and Kodi Nokorima are ahead of him as are 29 other players.

He has 0 tries. So a combined 7 try involvements. Jayden Campbell has 9.

He is not in the top 50 for line break assists. He has just 3 all year.

He has not kicked a field goal or a 40/20.

Tanah Boyd goes ok , was always a fair player and was good against us , him and Luai would be pretty strong combo , Latu Needs to own this weeks game as he was bog average last week , we need a half who is strong almost every week , he needs to play a man of the match game

I would argue Luai needs to own this week's game as he was bog average last week and is on 1.2m and the senior representative star of the team, actually.

My argument on the podcast was that Luai is not delivering value over a replacement level player. His stats evidence this. You can try to counter with any argument you want but results speak for themselves.

Either he is not as good as we hoped or the Wests Tigers system/coaching etc. cannot make use of his skills.

Call me deluded and call into question my football knowledge all you want but I'm demonstrably correct. If you want to give Luai credit for the fact we are slightly performing better than last year because of a culture boost he's given the side you're the one with the shitty argument not me.

Even if I wanted to make that argument the facts are that the jolt of belief the squad got in signing him only lasts if he holds up his end of the bargain and delivers wins. If he falters, which he has, that becomes doubt, cynicism and demoralisation very fast. Other players at the club will start viewing him as overpaid, overrated and the club will back him because they've paid him a fortune and so they will scapegoat other players for poor results and evidently as per the comment above so will the fans. Which is ridiculous.

It's not Jarome Luai's fault we paid him 1.2m and he isn't able to produce the same results in our system vs. Penrith's but that isn't the argument I was making. The argument I was making is he is a bad signing that hasn't moved the needle and I await well thought through rebuttal.

Well… he has a contract with clauses in his favour …so if he wants to ride it out to the end, then they are stuck anyway … the ball is in his court , not the Tigers

I’ve been disappointed in him , and I hate excuses for a guy you pay so much for, but there are a few … he didn’t start training with the team until January, the Galvin disruption, the infected boil and Origin which for him was a shit show … so given all that I’m persevering another year .. I also don’t know want the alternative is… if it’s just hoping that other good players are going to come along and replace him .. then that’s a risk..
