All I know is we have the weakest looking front row in the comp bar Parra.
In fact, our whole pack looks mediocre at best.

Name a worse one

Let’s try to analyse your assessment. It seems to me that we are not too bad off …. in my opinion we should rate about 3.5/5 so ........ we will see and bit early to burry our front row boys just yet. Also I think our bench front row backups are pretty strong.

4/5 Saints:- Paul Vaughan, Cameron McInnes, James Graham (we can compete)
4/5 Bronks - Matt Lodge, Andrew McCullough, Joseph Ofahengaue (we can compete)
3/5 Raiders - Sia Soliola, Josh Hodgson, Ryan Sutton (better)
3/5 Bulldogs - Dylan Napa, Michael Lichaa, Aiden Tolman (better)
4.5/5 Sharks - Andrew Fifita, Braille Bradley, Aaron Woods (if they don’t loose any one of these three via their salary cap woes then this for mine is one of the top front rows)
4/5 Titans - Jarrod Wallace, Nathan Peats, Ryan James (we can compete)
4/5 Sea Eagles - Addin Fonua-Blake, Api Koroisau, Martin Taupau ( they may loose one of these three via their salary cap woes but we can and have get over this combo)
4.5/5 Storm -Jesse Bromwich, Cameron Smith, Nelson Asofa- (no argument they are tops)
3.5/5 Knights - David Klemmer, Danny Levi, Tim Glasby (as good as)
3.5/5 Cowboys - Matt Scott, Jake Granville, Jordan McLean (as good)
2.5/5 Parramatta - Daniel Alvaro, Reed Mahoney, Junior Paulo (better)
4/5 Panthers - Reagan Campbell Gillard, Sione Katia, James Tamu (we can compete)
4/5 Souths - George Burgess, Damien Cook, Thomas Burgess (we can compete)
3.5/5 Warriors - Bunty Afoa, Issac Luke, Agnatius Paasi (as good)
4/5 Roosters - JW Hargreaves, Jake Friend, ZaneTetevano (we can compete)

Tiger said the whole pack ..your assessment needs to compare packs as a whole..

Nope first sentence, he said "Front Row" which …. yes is bit strange as you would need to compare whole pack + best bench and would then of course have completely different assessment..

Good on you for putting it out there. Said it before, our starting pair matched or bettered the opposition on most occasions this season as our for and against when on the paddock shows. Sure, one can pick out a few games when this is not the case, but any random selection shows a reasonable platform. Overall, our right edge backrower was our weak point, along with our rotation up front, regardless of how good Twal seemed.

Unsure on the Warriors. They are going to struggle big without Shawn Johnson but we know that Kearney will have a Melbourne Storm like toughness in their pack. I think the big issue for the Warriors is Blake Green is their halves superstar now!
Manly, overall yes our pack is stronger. But if Haslier can attract any depth they have the superstars to go forward. Taupau and Blair don't need much support to win games.

In fact I think that's the biggest criticism of Cleary I can level. Everyone recruited was either fair to good but not outstanding. By building your team around players that arn't the peak you cannot pad your team with depth to lift it. He started by padding our team with Depth, which makes the money for superstars harder to find. Although we were in a dark place.

3/5 Raiders - Sia Soliola, Josh Hodgson, Ryan Sutton (better)
3/5 Bulldogs - Dylan Napa, Michael Lichaa, Aiden Tolman (better) – Only agreed because of Lichaa.
2.5/5 Parramatta - Daniel Alvaro, Reed Mahoney, Junior Paulo (better)

To be fair, being a thread about our front row for the coming season, the assessment of other club's starters is properly placed. Whilst their rotation is also very important, in this thread, the remainder of the pack/s is an aside to the topic.

Based on two good attributes for a prop being weight and age, I use a quick and deadly calculation for sports betting that is simply a division of the first by the second. It is flawed in many respects because weight should result from muscle rather than fat, youth does not necessarily equate to speed, ball skills and leadership are ignored, and there is no way of quantifying aggression (other than a body count after the match!). Using today's figures from Zero Tackle, our props rate in this order:

Mikaele 108/20 5.4
Musgrave (??) 110/22 5.0
Clark 107/22 4.8
Twal 104/22 4.7
Aloiai 106/23 4.6
Eisenhuth 110/26 4.2
Packer 119/29 4.1
Rochow 103/28 3.6
Matulino 107/30 3.5

Using some of the props on Momo's list for comparison:

Jesse Bromwich 114/29 3.9 Asofa-Solomona 115/22 5.2
Ofahengaue 113/23 4.9 Lodge 121/23 5.2
George Burgess 120/26 4.6 Thomas Burgess 120/26 4.6
Waerea-Hargreaves 108/29 3.7 Tetevana 111/28 3.9
Glasby 106/29 3.6 Klemmer 116/25 4.6
Woods 111/27 4.1 Fifita 118/29 4.0
Vaughan 110/27 4.0 Graham 107/33 3.2

Just meaningless numbers, but they show that at least the top five on the Tiger's list have the potential to compete with the best if they have the skills and aggression to go with it. Apologies in advance for typos and mis-calculations.

This has to be worked into the Plodder scale somehow… 😱pen_mouth:

If you lose the battle up the middle and then your edges get dominated because of size and speed on the edges and they get 50 % possession and complete at 75 % the current WT's will get owned every week

Dress it up anyway you want

Packer needs a rocket put up his backside by Madge….he needs to run hard and put in a solid 60-70 minutes a game..if he cant average over 100m a game back to ISP he should go....we paid good coin for him and he needs to start earning it..
