WTs stance on contract negs

Earlier in the year, whenever JT was asked about the players off contract he stated the club would be making no comment on the subject until there was something to comment about- they wanted to avoid distractions.
Since JTs sacking it seems that protocol has been forgotten, disregarded or just plain ignored… And I can't help but feel our team has suffered for it ever since.
Im not saying JT shouldn't have been punted even if it seemed a bit premature (Rd 3) but while all this crap continues with the media feeding frenzy on the topic, the distraction this team is suffering will continue.
Cleary - if he signs on- will have a lot more than just football to deal with... He's on a hiding to nothing

A lot needs to be sorted and needs a strong person to do so because our board just don't have the smarts to do so. They need to punt themselves also

Was discussing a similar thing the other day ink.
I've also noticed a lot more being leaked to the media. I really hope it's just a coincidence and not to do with a certain board member that has recently returned.

It's not just contracts, it's the coach too. It's all well and good to assume Cleary will be announced, but till he is we will continue to be in limbo. Pascoe said that they won't allow another season drift, but as long as they don't make Cleary official it's exactly what is happening. The same thing happened back in 02 after we sacked Lamb. We were getting belted every week, then the first week after Sheens was announced, we put 50 on Souths. You can't expect results with no coach in place. Just announce him already.

Every thing comes back to our playing roster, it reflects our position on the table, we are chocker block full of reserve graders

If only our reserve grade team was full of reserve graders…

I just hope Ivan Cleary wasn't put off by tonight's performance

He went to the Panthers when they finished 12th and had a lot of star players. At that time he was coaching the Warriors who were consistently making the finals.

Yep, there are a couple of blokes who would hold their own in any side in the comp, and a couple who would do their job each week, but overall we are weak, particularly mentally which has been the case for years. We don't have that mental toughness sides like the top sides do. You can see the belief the Dragons have now. We've got nothing

Not a chance of that I'm sure he would have looked at our perfmance and laughed. I'm sure he'd be thinking I can't make this lot any worse it's only one way for me and that's upward

If Cleary does start this week then give them 7 days to sign or pull the contracts off the table ..they have had more than enough time to make a decision ..with the new coach and a pretty much a full cap to spend enough is enough the club is in a positive position to move forward and hopefully a few of them will move on anyway.

In some ways I hope they move on I'm sick of watching them player with no assion whatsoever for the colours

The board doesn't coach the team or buy players they take advice from the CEO and act on it.
They set the direction they want the club to head in.
You can bet your bottom dollar that Pascoe told the board that JT had to go.

And yet we are always just over the cap.
I look at the Cowboy's who have just signed Taumalolo on a $1m per year contract for 10 years. The cap only being $7M. That leaves $6M for the other 24 players which includes the best player in the world - Thurston. Then there's Scott, Morgan, Hess who aren't on tuppence each?

I'm told that the Cowboy's have a huge land developer as a backer so I gather that Taumalolo, JT, Scott and others own half of Townsville.

Din't get me started on Broncos and Roosters

Apples and oranges

But we make our own bed and have to lay in it.

I have said this before but this joint venture just has nothing except junior catchments. No culture, bad history, infighting, no money. We will always be bad. We will fluke here or there but it is our place in the NRL.

I find it extraordinary that we have the richest supporter in the league but can't get TPA assistance for our top players.
