WT's strength - Backs or Forwards ??

Some teams have a balance between backs and forwards - equally strong eg Manly or the Broncos.

Some teams have a stronger pack eg Souths.

Some teams have a stronger backline eg Parramatta.

Where are we at ??

I like the guile and creativity of Farah, the power and strength of Blair, Big Red and Ellis and the hardwork of the rest of the pack.

Our backline boasts the creativity and skill of Marshall, the strength and speed of Lawrence and Lote, possibly the speed of Moltzen and the rest make up the numbers.

So currently I reckon we have a stronger pack than backline.

We are in need of another gun backline player.

Will it be Grant, our Fijian flyer or will be waiting till 2013 for a surprise big signing ?.

So hopefully our pack drives us forward with the backs supporting.

Should be a good year !

You can't have one without the other If we are going to be a serious contender this season we need to have a forward pack with great go forward and work hard in defence ALL the time

We need a great kicking game with great kick chase and a backline that convert the opportunities that all of the above will create

So the answer is both needs to be a strength to succeed

I like the look of the team all over the park including the depth. The Tigers are well covered in the backrow, centre, wing, halfback and five eigth IMO. Some will disagree but I don't mind the depth in the front row, although if Galloway misses any serious time, it will hurt a bit as he goes forward so well and is hard to put down, again though, I think Woods, Groat, Bell, Moors, Begovich can all step up.

Pack.

I wouldn't swap any forward from our squad with another, however how our 1 & 7 will shape up is the big question mark. That aside, 2 through to 6 is one of the strongest backlines in the comp.

It's going to be a great year.

I think on paper we have the best looking team we have ever had all over the park. I think the mobility of our forwards will be our strength. Our kicking game is our weakness, hope that is the big improvement in 2012.

On paper you assume our Forwards. But we stuggled to gain any momentum in the second half against the Warriors and was a big reason our season finished there. I wonder how many coaches noticed this and have reviewed this over and over again?

I'm content with our back line. Some would write us off purely because we have no Halfback, but when you have a guy called Marshall at 6, you will find ways around that. Ryan has copped plenty of raised eyebrows from me over the years, but he has this ability to get Meat Pies on a regular occasion. I'm feeling more content with him in the team so I'd say we re well covered in the Backs.

Our biggest strength is our ability to protect our line. This has grown well over the past 2 years and will be a major factor to seeing us making the Top 8 in 2012\. Keep the opposition to an average of 2.5 Tries per game… Que Benji Marshall and his merry men!

We dont have a ready made replacement for Lui. If anything will stop us winning this year it will be the lack of an established #7.

On paper our forwards and backs will match it with any team we come up against this year and our depth is better than we've ever had.
Our only draw back is we seem to have difficulty taking that form off the paper and taking it out onto the field. Week in week out we don't have that steely resolve to show up every week with the same killer attitude. Until that changes we have get use to the Weststigers roller coaster ride that we are so use to.

Forwards is my answer

Pack is full of internationals except for Woods who will one day play for Australia.

I would like to see Fulton start at lock given his ball playing ability and defence. Heighington would be great off the bench in 20 min bursts. I think we will see both Ellis and Blair play some time during games at prop this year.

I am worried about our Number 1 and Number 7\. Moltzen seems to be Sheen's preferred Number 1 which leaves Miller or Chisholm as options.

We seem to have great depth this year.

As we all know games are not won on how good your side looks on paper.

Great teams over the last couple of years have had a great spine (1,7 and 9) Like Melbourne Slater, Cronk and Smith

If we can improve our kicking game and can establish a half back then 2012 will be a great year

They are more balanced than anything, hard to pick..

Marshall, Lote, Lawrence, Moltzen, Ashyford etc when on song can be lethal.

then you can always rely on the likes of galloway, heighnington, ellis and woods to make the big yards then add to the mix a fully fit robbie farah.

I don't think there can be a more potent left side attack in the competition…Marshall + Ellis + Lawrence + Lote 😵

The only thing missing is a good kicking game and hopefully whoever the new halfback is can bring that into our game

forwards.
they are like the machinery that goes onto a building site, and clears the way, and digs/lays the foundations.

the backs build on this and add the finishing touches.

the coach makes the plans.
