That's three replies ….. And I was asking Willow not you .... Just go and chill for a while.

Look Knuckles , when you and Ink marry can we all come to the wedding

Should be a barrel of laughs

Yeah …. We'll let you know !

Ok …. Maybe my original post should have posed the question why does Mayer sign players with a past who have the potential to cause trouble ? Is that still a silly question Willow ?

That question is structured better but still flawed. How many of us knew the Wests Tigers were talking to Gordon? Would you still feel the same way if we were talking to Todd Carney?

Most players deserve second chances Knuckles. Some learn from their mistakes, some do not. Gordon has ended up in the second category. To begrudge Mayer for giving a bloke a chance though is a bit rough, but you've shown your dislike towards Mayer since he was appointed so this comes as no surprise.

I don't dislike anyone Willow nor hold a grudge. I don't know Grant Mayer, I have never met met the man so how can one dislike or hold a grudge. All I do is question the decisions he makes which impacts upon me as a member of the club.

On the player, yes everyone deserves a second chance but forgive me if I'm wrong but this player had already chances with two other clubs and let them down.

I don't have a problem with you supporting everything Mayer does Willow…. that's your right and good luck to you. But don't accuse me of dislike and holding grudges when that simply isn't true.

The way you articulate your comments about Mayer suggests otherwise Knuckles, maybe have a read of some of the posts you have made about him previously. It looks quite obvious to many on here. That's your prerogative in any event. As long as you post within forum rules, say what you like.

Yes, Gordon had chances at other clubs. No one is arguing that fact and from the looks if it here most are glad Mayer took the action that he did. He gave Gordon a chance and Gordon wasted that chance. Move on, End of story.

Well all I can say is I'm sorry you've formed that opinion.
And as you say well leave it at that and move on.

WTF happen to this place… Crazy!!

It is exactly the same. You have just been away long enough to be desensitized to it

You can guarantee Gordon had some kind of probation period in his contract. Regardless of exactly what he wrote, you are supposed to be on best behaviour with a new employer. Imagine if Tigers had not gotten wind of it and terminated him, the stories out of the DT about a new recruit writing references to lady parts on a school board/book.

I wonder if there was any sanctions against other players who were with Gordon? They don't usually visit schools etc alone do they?

I can just picture whoever else who was with him having a good old chuckle about what was written. Much like Terry Lamb and Hopoate etal!

Not a crime laughing at another's stupidity

There's one in the debit column.

Ironically, that's the exact same comment Terry Lamb made to Tigers management. We know their response

Apparently he was on a $10,000 contract for 3 months. At the end of the 3 months they were to assess their respective positions. Well …. Yilleen's stupidity occurred just prior to that 3 month contract expiring. See ya later. End of story.

thats what i have read as well yeti. baaaaaaad judgement call!

from paul kent's column on foxsports.com.au:

A ROUGH WEEK FOR
>
IT'S hard to believe a bloke already on his last NRL chance, like Yileen Gordon, would come up with such a joke that saw Wests Tigers sack him. Gordon reasoned that it was "a joke among the boys", meaning another one bites the dust for the old, familiar reason of failing to understand you're not talking to teammates in public, you're talking to fans.

the main article was trashing the whole burgess saga. after last season and the whole mum on the field with the 4 Bs after the tigers game (which really annoyed me!) i wanted to post it here, but its not a tigers story…

Perhaps Mayer should be more mindful who he is sending to the schools. Sending someone with a chequered past who has only been in the place five minutes shows a lack of foresight on his part. Agree with the decision but one needs to ask why did they send him in the first place ?

Are you serious??? You really think ostricising a player in front of the rest of the team will make him feel wanted at the club? Get a clue Knuckles, that's an early contender for silliest post of the year.

I think your reply is more of a contender, Willow! Can you please tell me, what exactly are they trying to achieve by this? Is it some sort of "brownie points" for being community minded? Then surely Mayer and others can set the guys up to be successful by choosing events that match the capacity and ability of the players, rather than some blanket agenda like "tackling bullying". Sure, get those who are genuine role models in that arena and who can inspire a group of kids/adolescents through their reputation as well as their communication ability, but please don't assume such a sensitive and important issue can be canvassed by every player in some sort of rostered basis. When Yillen Gordon signed with the Tigers was it made clear that he would be used by the club in such a way? Did anyone assess his skills to do that role? Or did they just carve up the squad and send them to different venues hoping that nobody would stuff up? It seems amateurish and opportunistic to me. And, in my opinion, that's not good enough for this club.

IQ's must have dropped 10 points around here all of a sudden :brick: All club players are required to do community work on behalf of not only the club, but the NRL. Despite Gordon's apparent "joke", he's not mentally retarded and certainly wasn't treated that way by the club. He's 26 years old and an adult. Go away and do some research and see which clubs assess which players attend which public events. I'm dying to read the answer.

My two kids and wife just spent two hours with Brent Tate and Dallas Johnson doing a training session and then a signing autograph photos etc session

Wife commented how they shook every kids hand , made eye contact , chatted away quite happily with every kid and didn't complain after signing a couple hundred autographs , pictures and all the while in the rain

Maybe that's the attitude Yileen needed

Not trying to be the class clown

Gordon's been around, Souths, Dogs Penrith…he knows the ropes and what is expected of NRL players - its much much more than just playing footy.
He's no naive rookie kid just in the top grade with whom you could possibly make allowances for such a stupid act.

"Yeah I'll sign for a year - Im good at backrow but I'm also a moron so I'll expect to be exempt from school & hospital visits, thanks."

Dont work like that.

Some people just cannot seem to grasp that concept Ink.
