thats not as bad as i thought it was gonna be. I was thinking something rracist, homophobic or maybe making fun of bullying victims.

it's a crude joke ( although not gonna lie i laughed the first time i heard it and many times after) but i seriously doubt Robbie or Brooks would get the cut for something like that.

Put it in to context, the guy was at a primary school, 6-12 yr olds. Highly inappropriate. I work in a school, if i did something like that, i'd be sacked. Its not the environment for that kind of stuff.

Im not passing an opinion on what he apparently did one way or the other; but you say put it in context - you work in a school and you would be sacked if you did what he did - **well, if you were spirited into a first grade rugby league game, how would you measure up?**

that is dumb, but the penalty seems massively over the top.
No way would a top player get flicked for that.
As for the players talking on bullying, it works kids listen to footballers, if they say don't bully, many will stop (for a while)
one of the players will say I used to get bullied at school, times change might be a lift for a kid on the outer

I don't think it was too harsh at all. If he did that in my school I would ask him to leave and never invite the team back. Schools have sign in procedures for a reason and just signing in under a fake name is a big no no.

I applaud Mayer's decision in relation to this incident, and it spells out what anyone else can expect if something similar is done. The players are representing not only the club, but the community and when things like this happens…Well Gordon got what he deserved.

Maybe talking wasn't their strongest point but what is much more important is a genuine empathy with their audience. Clearly something which Gordon didn't have as shown by his book signing mocking.

i think thats exactly right. after his history he was definitely on his P plates so shouldve been mindful of that.
it is this very circumstance that i think sacking was warranted. if it were someone like farah i doubt the same punishment would be, but unfortunately, whilst not wife beating or anything too severe, i think his brain snap got what it deserved.

Here it is a bit clearer for you mate. I also thought it an unusual response from Mayer when I saw it yesterday. For the record I agree with the sacking but I think he could have responded to this fan better.
