backrow i want to see how lio and santi go during trials.
sue and sirro haven't impressed me the last year so it is open to be taken.
koala needs to get alot better to force his way in.don't like his defense at all.
halatau has a good shot if the ruck is as quick as advertised by the nrl.

galloway,you now have more pressure on your starting spot since you came here and spent time in reggies.

no real thoughts yet,haven't seen enough of him.
the same goes for Liolevave,so i focused on him watching the nines again and don't believe he missed a tackle and seemed pretty solid.
thought he may have gassed a little quicker than others though.
i will probably do the same with funaki at some point.

Fair point with Liolevave, the fitness issue is relevant and may restrict his role if and when he gets a chance.

Funaki for me is the one we need to kick on, the Wests Tigers have lacked a forward of his style since its inception basically.

Interesting times ahead for these two.

Some people really are being unrealistic here. The lineup will be largely similar to last season, with a couple of changes in the forwards.

Realistic Round 1:

Teddy
Richards
Simona
Lawrence
Naiqama
Moses
Brooks
Woods
Farah
Galloway
Sue
Akauola
Halatau

Taupau
Seumanufagai
Lodge
Liolevave/Funaki

My preferred starting 11, Round 1:

Lawrence to second row
Fine to centre.
Santi at lock
Akauola, Halatau out

Sirro needs fitness. If he plays a lot of minutes in the trials then he'll be in the starting back row.

Halatau could start the season at lock just for experience but Santi should make the position his own soon enough. He's not a line breaker, nor an offloader so isn't suited to playing out wide. He's a tackling machine with a huge engine and is happy to put his hand up for the tough stuff. A definite lock.

Buchanon did alright at the 9s but would still be our 6th choice prop at best.

Hoeter looks a long way off first grade, see how he goes at wing in NSW Cup.

Only one of Funaki/Liolevave would likely be in our lineup for round one. Funaki was far superior to Lio in the 9's and might have his nose ahead at the moment. Lio was pretty quiet in the 9's. No breaks, offloads, although no errors of note either. Remember Lodge, Funaki and Liolevave can all still play NYC this season, having 3 very young forwards would be incredibly unlikely in the early rounds at least.

Farah will play 80 every week that he's fit. Cherrington will only appear if Robbie is out/not fully fit. Or if there's a dramatic change to the way the game is reffed and we can have robbie at lock and play Cherrington at hooker so they can double team hooker.

Luani should play the whole season in NSW Cup. Not better than our top players and our kids should be picked ahead of him too.

Of course the team selection will be up to Taylor not just for Round 1 but the next 23 as well….this thread is about YOUR team ...Who you would like to see in the 17...doesn't mean they will get picked...

I hope Chance Peri gets a good run in the trials. Depending so much on Lawrence to produce a decent centre's game every week is too much of a risk. If Peri can show something in the trials at wing/centre he may be the missing link in the backline i.e. Richards to one wing, Simona to one centre and the remaining centre/wing positions to be sorted out between Naquima. Peri and Nofoalama.

Not really… I was impressed in Buchanan and Luani's work when not playing Dummy Half, but I cant see them squeezing into our Starting 17 for Round 1.

Both will go well this year and show the amount of depth we have.

Not what everyone else would like, but I'd like to see us go down the park through the middle, have backrowers playing on the edge [not tight like previous years doing everything] and genuine speed on the wings.
I only played with Sironen and Liolavave as they could both alternate through out games allowing Ava & Sauce to go straight and Taupau to have a roving role to run at the smaller men more often.

Sorry mate, but that team would get beaten by a lot of teams. Lawrence + Richards on the same side is suicide.

Noffa, is most likely injured for the first month of the season, as has been stated on numerous occasions.

Ava doesn't have the agility or durability to play lock.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, just hopefully JT's is different to yours.

Its not the team I would name, but in TrueTiger's defence, Kevin is considered as good a center as he is a winger and given how many backs we lost last year it cannot hurt to carry someone on the bench with the size Kevin has.

I think Ava proved in the 9's that he is a lot more versatile than people give him credit for…me included. He seems to have lost some puppy fat and he could be useful there if there was a workhorse type player like Santi in the second row to compliment him.
