Your Round 1 Side , Has your thoughts Changed?

Geo and KS

Why would you take away from a position of strength with Buchanan playing as a tight lock when you can bolster our back row with Santi playing on an edge

Gives us more options in the back row as well and would give us a bench of Sirro ,Taupau ,Ava ,Lamar or Funaki or Cherrington

Scarily good bench if you ask me

Happy, the one thing I'm looking for is an 80 minute back rower that can make 40 tackles along with Farah. I see that happening with a lock in tight rather than just a player stuck on the left or right. My view is based on defensive workload and tidy up work.

But I'm open to having one 80 minute edge player in Santi, then throwing a 3rd front rower in at 13\. Time will tell, but it's nice to see some backrowers throw their hands up, regardless of the final make up Taylor decides on

I feel a touch more positive about 2015 , but I would of loved to have picked up a quality centre

As I have said previously , 2015 for the WT's will come down to how our centres perform , our back row will hold its own at the very least

Where is Happy and what have you done with him….

I prefer Santi in the middle taking some of the defensive workload off Farah...

Rest Farah and bring on Cherrington for 10-15 minutes

No way Farah should be rest at all, look what happened against Manly last year when Farah was off they ran in 20 points.
He is our captain and should be on the field all game.
Cherrington will get his turn during SOO.

Actually he will probably score less because he won't get many yards with Woodsy hitting it up every 3rd hit up

He will far more work attack wise as an edge runner

Irrespective of what people think of today's results, even though they are great…It is obvious to me that JT has a lot more to work with during the season than what the previous coach had..

Maybe the WTs could be a force to reckon with after all...

Just my opinion and I can't wait for the season to start,no more speculation and no more assumptions, just results, that all I'm interested in... :sign:

Thoughts are the same.

Lodge has not even played a handful of NRL matches, and Santi has only made his debut. How some think that these two, plus Lamar and even Funaki are going to form nearly half of our rotation to start the season is beyond me.

You may get by with a couple of youngsters, but gee, throwing so many boys in amongst men, I think not.

I think Taylor may have a few pleasant selection decisions to make for round 1\. But let's see how we line up in our trial matches over the coming weeks.

I think Taylor needs to pick the best players not the oldest. If he does that then I think we have a chance for a decent season.

If he goes for the experience line we could be in for a long season.

Little to do with experience, although that helps, simply biology.

I honestly think Taylor has picked a team mostly made up of nrl hopefuls and told them ' Go out there and win this thing' show me why i should select you in my side.
Im not saying we've played the best footy, imo our attack has been terrible so far structure wise, and timing wise but we've managed to control the ball well and our defense has been fantastic so far despite the fact the opposition has been not that flash and have given us plenty of opportunities. Our D is definitely the highlight so far though, you can already see Taylor has been working on it a bit and im sure it will be one of his main focuses this season, along with our kicking game, i'm sure if we can be consistent with those two we should be competitive in most games, looking forward to the change and the further improvement of our young folk.

Yeah right oh , and what more options do we have than the side i chose ?
In terms of experience what more do have to choose from Halatau and Sironen. :unamused:
The experience we had in Blair , Thompson , Austin , Gavet is gone .
Sironen over rated , i'll have Lamar over Sirro

Makes me laugh when people say we need experience out there , reality is ? we have to do with what we got and experience is something we are lacking at the present time .
No one was harping on about lack of experience in "05" give me a break.

To me you can't compare Lawrence and Richards. Richards is a 90% goal kicker i don't think you throw that away lightly. Turning 4 into 6 is crucial. To go with his kick offs they are 2 weapons other teams don't have. We got the ball back a number of times from them, He actually won us 3-4 games last season which were really close. His goal kickinf or his kicks off proved the difference in 2 point game,

His form dipped in the last 10 rounds when he got injured and the whole team was going terrible. Half way through the season most pundits were calling for him to play origin for the unique qualities he bought to the table. When the side was firing he was one of the players of the season

I know he is slow however he is still relatively safe and decent under the high ball. The key is having a balance there, you cant have 2 slow wingers, or a slow centre and winger playing on the same side. So we need some speed inside him and some speed on the other wing. Thats where i thought Koribete with some paitence could have been a great balance.

Lawrence has not shown anything other then being a huge liability for 4 years. What are his unique qualities?? What does he bring to the table besides being a nice bloke and a good trainer??

I still think Pat can prove crucial in some close games if the team is firing. If the team is out of contention and playing like busteds half way through the year then maybe it will be time to look to the future.
