Naqaima was very good against the Sharks. Whilst he wasn't put into any open space, he really did a lot of dirty work getting the ball out of our own end and he looked very safe in defence.

You have to be impressed with ol big hairs defense.

Coming out of the line and connecting hard and shutting overlaps down isnt easy but he is doing it again and again.

Tedesco
Naiqama
Simona
Lawrence ( nofo to replace when available )
Richards
Moses
Brooks
Woods
Farah
Tapau
Sue
Liolave
Halatau
Bench
Ava
Lodge
Santi
Sironen ( cover for backs ).

I think that you are correct. Drinkwater could well be a surprise selection. His kicking game is first class and he knows his way around the field. His defence is ok and he is a very good goalkicker. What's not to like?

Sue seems to give away a lot of penalties and his defence needs some work. Ava on the other hand seems to take a lot of handling from the opposition. So Ava to start and Sue to the bench.

Well I don't get to see any preseason games so all I can do is read other forumer's posts or read twitter posts or post game reviews.

So far,
Moses has had a hand in everything
Or, I don't understand the Moses hype

Sirro had a top game - full on charging at the defence with good second man plays
Or, he still thinks he's a 5/8 and won't take on the line

I don't know what they see in Naiquaima. He couldn't crack first grade at two other clubs
Or, he goes well under the high ball and hammers in defence

Galloway only puts in 10 mins and is getting too old
Or, the team loses go forward when Galloway is replaced

Anyway, I guess I'll just have to wait and see who JT picks.
The only common thread out of all of this is that our D looks to much better organised.

Now that's a good start.

Wish I could find a spot for Drinkwater as I think we have the muscle but we need the "key's" to unlock the modern NRL defences. I like the way Drinkwater organises things. Brooks & Moses have the starting halves positions but any major slip up's & J.T. will not be shy to act.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Naqaima
3\. Simona
4\. Lawrence
5\. Richards
6\. Moses
7\. Brooks
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Sironen
12\. Santi (tackling machine)
13\. Taupau

14\. Seumanufagai
15\. Lodge
16\. Sue
17\. Halatau (tackling machine)

in the trail against the Sharks, Taupau looked to be playing lock. hitting the ball up wider and changing angles. If gives us a very big pack and allows if the role Fulton used to do with either Santi or Halatau. So at any minute of the game, four out five forwards on the field are big boppers.
18\. man - Drinkwater. if either half is not 100% Drinkwater comes in. Suddenly losing Austin is not as bad as I thought.
19\. man. Buchanan. If Sue makes too many mistakes Jack Buchanan comes in.

It appears the back line is set at the moment with Naiqama in for Nofoaluma whilst he is out injured. So that leaves the forwards and the reserves… who to put in, and who to leave out .. ??

Here's mine....

8\. Galloway
9\. Farah (c)
10\. Woods
11\. Sironen
12\. Santi (he's a tackling machine)
13\. Sue

14\. Seumanufagai
15\. Taupau
16\. Lodge
17\. Akauola (utility forward/back)

** if they bring a back into the list it has to be Drinkwater.

With 4 big forwards on the bench to smash and bash our way upfield and tire the opposition out, so our fast smart, tricky players (Farah, Moses, Brooks and Tedesco) can run amuck and create the holes for the speedy back line to score.

Lets go Tigers, lets roarer...!!! :sign:

I think it is clear what the 17 will be, only question is what spot they play. My best guess is this
1\. Teddy
2\. Kev
3\. Simona
4\. Lawrence
5\. Richards
6\. Moses
&. Brooks
8.. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Woods
11\. Sirro
12\. Sue
13\. Taupau

reserves
Halatau, Santi, Ava & Lodge.

Personally I start Santi at 13, and have Taupau on the bench.

1\. Tedesco
2\. Naqaima
3\. Simona
4\. Lawrence
5\. Hoeter
6\. Drinkwater
7\. Brooks
8\. Woods
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Sironen
12\. Liolevave
13\. Santi

14\. Seumanufagai
15\. Buchanan /Akauola
16\. Lodge
17\. Tapau

Drinkwater has gone okay in the trials, but i can't believe how some are building him up. He hasn't been able to cement a spot anywhere for a reason. I can't see there being a repeat of Austin with this guy. A depth signing at best.

Switch the 14 for 13 and I could live with that

Taupau just seems better coming off the bench in my opinion

id go with that team Hap.
But I still have doubts about Sue and Akoula. If one of them doesn't produce , I'd like to see Buchanan in there too( only going on the trials and nines this year)
Sue worries me as he doesn't seem any better than when he started I hope I'm wrong though

He was one of our best against the Eels and was a class above in State Cup. He'll prove a very handy replacement if Moses or Brooks go down.

I havent seen the trials, seems like he has played really well.

Ive always thought he was poor. In fact when Manly picked him up for NYC, I thought it was ridiculous, I couldn't believe saints signed him also. Im friendly with a few of the cutters coaching staff, and on the drink one night they were most unkind on his performances.

Sides he has played in have perpetually come last (4 of the last 5 dead last), not usually a good sign.

I was extremely critical of us signing him.

It seems that he is playing really well, and I hope he proves me wrong, and it seems that he is, but i must admit he will have to string a few together to impress me.
