That backline still needs an injection pace but hopefully Gildart and Hastings
are NRL players and especially NRL level defensive players.
I like the pack especially the bench. I think Garner is desperately unlucky to miss out but I think we need both LIddle and Simpkins in the team.
Still that team will be a borderline top 8 team. That team with Tommy Turbo or Latrell could push teams in the finals.
I think i'd be tempted to start Garner ahead of Luc. I don't think Luc is an 80 minute player. I think he'd be better used off the bench
Or just play Luc less minutes - Garner had some good stints off the bench for us this year. Get Luc playing the first and last 25 mins of the games and Garner can fill the rest, or vice versa. Luc is still the better of the two imo
Garner has outplayed him recently, pretty easily. Luc has been really ordinary of late.
Over the whole season Luc has been better though and is a more talented player overall IMO. Think playing 80 every week has gotten to him, a short stint on the bench will do him wonders.
Not sure I agree with that. I think Luc has been pretty poor this year.

Fair enough. There's been a couple games where he's been our best player, it's only recently his form has dipped. Garner has kinda done the opposite started terrible but has started improving and putting some good games up.
I get the feeling if Pangai comes over Garner might be the one missing out though

Yep and you can strip Pangai out of that too. The Dogs will be much stronger next year, as will Brisbane - we'd be fav's for the spoon.

Luciano is a bit of a weapon in attack, but we can’t carry poor defensive players, you end up conceding 50 pts a week.

Why hasn't our defence been fixed up after all these years-it hasn't just been this season it's been since 2005 ! and getting worse..why ! other clubs have good defence why is it so difficult for us:-1:
@frullens said in [Your team for 2022](/post/1447965) said:My big questions for next year:
- halves dilemma
- centre
- fullback cover
- Tamou
**Halves Dilemma**
I really think we need to pick and stick with halves combination for the next 3-4 years. Only questions is what combination to go with - we have 3 players for 2 positions- Brooks, Doueihi and Hastings
I think we really need Hastings attitude, leadership and his voice. I'd like to see him play 7
Brooks strength is his running game, I've always seen him as a better 6 than 7
Doueihi is my favourite player, love his passion and want to grab control of the game. Do you play him 6, centre or left field at lock? I think Doueihi could be a great lock. Has the body for it, can be in control of the middle, put Laurie in gaps and make use of his awkward running style. also means we don't need to carry a back on the bench.
**Centre**
I have trust that Talau will come through to be a strong centre. (Although I know not everyone shares that faith).
Question is who to partner him, assuming we sign no one?
AJ showed some promise in the game he was injured. I think Roberts, MCK and BJ aren't the answer.
What about Garner? Runs great lines and has improved his defence?
**Fullback cover**
With Mybe leaving who can now cover for Laurie in case of injury?
If its an existing player, we should be blooding this year.
**Tamou**
If he hasn't already by start of the season, I'd say sometime before the end of the season Tamou will lose his spot in the top 17.
Not necessarily because he's fallen off a cliff but because our young group of forwards have grown and demand a spot.
Predicted 17 assuming no new signings -
1. LAURIE
2. MAUMALO
3. TALAU
4. GARNER
5. NOFA
6. BROOKS
7. HASTINGS
8. UTE
9. SIMPKIN
10. TWAL
11. BLORE
12. L. LEILUA
13. DOUEIHI
14. LIDDLE
15. JOFFA
16. SIMPKINS
17. TUILAGI
hm - backs - Gildart, AJ, Madden, Odgen*
Hm - forwards - Tamou, Musgrove, Seyfarth*, Mikaele*, Amone*
*not yet signed for 2022
