I haven't seen enough of AJ for him to warrant a spot all I remember from him is alot of dropped balls near the try line

Seen more than Gildart tho.

I haven't forgotten how bad he is at catching the ball.

Been out of the game for a minute...
Hopefully addressed his flaws.

Looked good when named at his actual position briefly before going down injured.

I hear all the negs and I don't disagree.
I just think he trumps Gildart.

I'm hopeful we'll find a centre that trumps them both. Curtis Scott or Roberts (if he turns up in good condition) would both be ahead of them. Ogden if he stays would be very close as well.

All line ups named so far look like a bottom placed team. Without a couple more quality signings 2022 could be another long season.

too early to make a call imo, feel like we won't be done in the market until late January. plenty of wheeling and dealing to occur until then. that said, I'd like to see the following:

- Kepaoa given the time he needs in the centres
- Ogden retained and blooded. fingers crossed Hill & Scolari start banging down the door as well
- Hastings in the halves (more likely to be at 6 than 7)
- Peachey at 13
- Luch on the bench with Kelma or otherwise starting in the back row
- Blore to remain a starter in the back row
- Mikaele exclusively off the bench. the starting side experiment was a failure
- Simpkin as our bench hooker all year, irrespective of whether Liddle or Hodgson is starting 9

unfortunately there are a few givens. Nofo, Brooks and Tamou will be starting, and Garner will most likely be in the side somewhere. losing Doueihi for the first period of the season will hurt us hugely. Joffa is very much an unknown entity in terms of what he can bring to the side. Twal who should be starting will unfortunately be relegated to the bench in order for Tamou to remain.

Madge has his work cut out for him, that's for sure.

My view for 22 would be to strengthen our future and try to keep competitive in the meantime.
So that side leaves out;
Mikaele
Kepoa
Talau
Roberts
Madden
Musgrove
Seyfarth
Simpkins
Tulagi
I’d probably include Seyfarth or Mikaele and move Peachey to the bench to replace Simpkin in the early rounds.

That said this is the reserve grade line up I’d like to see consistently this season.

1. Dillon
2. Scolari
3. Talau
4. Kepoa
5. Ogden
6. Stevonic
7. Madden
8. Musgrove
9. Simpkin
10. Mikaele
11. Tulagi
12. Simpkins
13. Seyfarth.

Man I miss the old Forum. At least I knew what people were talking about before replying.

Anyway we have a huge problem and that's Defense.
Our defense problem is in part due to our backline changing so much.

I think our wingers may be sorted with Nofo and Ken Maumalo. But if we just throw in Curtis Scott (the best defensive center above) it's not going to work as their combination in defense will not have gelled yet. Heck even in attack they wouldn't have gelled.

We seem to have a lot of Fringe center signed. Gildart is probably that. Now add Tyrone Peachey and we don't have that bench space for people to come up in the team.

I am trying to work out how say Curtis Scott or Dylan Walker then fit. If Defense is going to be sorted we need backline defenders that trust each other and can defend. Yes we needed to shuffle the backline, it's not working but we are just burning cap space. Seriously 1 more center/back line MAX and people get used to defending TOGETHER!

100% we make the simple impossible

Doesn't matter who we have in the halves. This side has big problems in the forwards. It's extremely hard to manage a game when your forwards struggle to make manageable ground metres and always allow the opposition to finish sets deep in our own half. Also an extremely significant lack of speed/strength in our outside backs that means a half-break/overlap is stopped pretty much instantly.

Brooks was one of our better players in patches last year. In otherwise, I'll be sad & disappointed to see him depart. Him leaving will be best interest for himself.

Which one ...or even better ...both

Been thinking about this a lot and imo I really think we have so quality players in our ranks already, yes there is a lot of dead wood but I think if our coaches can get it right, retain our good players, I really believe we can become a threat in coming years...2022 will be another development year for us will lots of Fill ins Hastings, peachy, gildart etc. what I’m really looking forward to is a lot of our young guys getting time. My team is for 2024 hopefully.

1.Dillion
2.AJ
3.Doueihi
4.Talau
5.Scolari
6.Laurie
7.Roberts
8.Twal
9.Liddle(but with a kicking game🤞)
10.Stefano
11.Blore
12.Lucy
13.Seyfarth

14.Simpkin (Plays big mins at 9 with liddle shifting to the middle)
15.Mikaele
16.Joffa
17.Tuilagi (comes onto an edge for Lucy)

If we can get Papali'i for 2022 (not likely but still) then I see something like this as our best team:

NOTE: With Douehi and Talau injured, centre is by far our weakest/untested position. Hastings is also untested but I would be chasing a topline centre over Christmas... Is Lomax still a possibility?

1. Laurie
2. Nofoaluma
3. ~~Doueihi~~/JTJ?
4. ~~Talau~~/Gildart?
5. Maumalo
6. Brooks
7. Hastings
8. Stefano
9. Liddle
10. Twal
11. Papali’i
12. Leilua
13. Peachy

14. Mikaele
15. Seyfarth/Musgrove
16. Ofahengaue (to come on for Peachy at Lock)
17. Blore (to come on for Leilua)

I think they may try Kepaoa out first over JTJ?

I don’t think Papali’i will be here next year, do you?

For round 1 my team would be..
1. Laurie
2. Nofoaluma
3. Gildart
4. Hoffman
5. Maumalo
6. Brooks
7. Hastings
8. Utoikamanu
9. Liddle
10. Twal (c)
11. Blore
12. Leilua
13. Seyfarth

14. Peachey
15. Mikaele
16. Tuilagi
17. Musgrove (last chance saloon)

I've got a lot of belief in this 17. Tuilagi, Seyfarth and Hoffman are exciting prospects.
