That is with Cotric coming into the centres and that might not happen. We have though Doueihi, Tupou, AJ and Talau to potentially come back into the backline.

If Hastings performs we have competition for spots all over the backline. Hopefully a couple of players perform.

Nofo was poor last year, Gildart completely untested, Cotric better as a winger than a centre. I'd personally go for

Peach and To'a adds depth if backs reshuffle.
I like Blore and Tuilagi as backrowers because they're solid and mobile.
Simpkins has a good off load and has quality traits, he'll fight it out with Alex Seyfarth who's another one of my favourites.
Joe Ofahengaue and Peach may swap to start game depending on the opposing pack.
I've left Lucy out because we need to blood players like Tuki with big minutes if we are going to be a threat in 2023. Same with James Tamou, he was poor last year IMO.
Thomas Mikaele will be competing for prop spot. He's having a good
pre-season but I've got a feeling he may not be with us in 2023.
I reckon by ½ way through season if he's not getting a run means he's off, I think?
No matter who you decide to put in there, for once we're starting to get competition for spots which is exactly what you need going forward.
The same applies to Brooks and Noffa, if they don't perform - Reggie's! We have Madden, two possibly 3 good hookers, plus JT and JTJ etc etc etc.
We can't release LL or any other player for that matter unless we get suitable replacements because of COVID and players going t#ts up.
We need to groom this side for Papa and Kori to come in 2023 and possibly another quality signing.

Yeah, that won’t be the centre pairing. I think one of AJ and Roberts starts. If not both. AJ is the real dark horse for a spot in round one imo.

Tupou is from a league background. He was picked to represent NSW under 16s and under 18s, and he was in the Raiders junior system. The Brumbies poached him from league. And he then marched straight into the junior Wallabies. The bloke has talent.

My point is simply that until he gets his feet grounded I wouldn't put him in a backline that's also cutting they're teeth and that goes for Asu Kepaoa as he gets lost at times.
I did say in earlier posts that Tupou could be a bolter but not too early.

I want Hastings to be a weapon. Hopefully he will be. You can't make him captain though. He has to earn it if he gets it.

Mate can you give some reasons why your gut feeling shys you away from him being captain. People have been saying AD should be captain. I wouldn't be upset with that. Is he experienced though?? He could have in earlier years maybe.
Our current captain in my opinion doesn't make the top 17 but a club captain roll suits, motivating players at training, during warm-ups and community service. Of course he would play at times when needed...this is just my take on him.
Jackson Hastings has got an underdog team to the top. He's a winner at all costs type.
He has confidence and that quality athlete look about him.
He definitely is a talker and hates losing.
He displayed that at Roosters and Manly.
In the modern game I believe the captain should be from the spine. Our hookers - no, ½ back - no, fulback - no, that leaves Hastings and AD IMO.
If you want the best out of a leader you make them the leader, that's what they do best.

Jackson Hastings has got an underdog team to the top. He’s a winner at all costs type.
He has confidence and that quality athlete look about him.

I view Hastings as one guy who potentially can improve us a lot. We really need him to become a marquee NRL player.

We also need 2 of our centres to step up big time. I think we now have a bunch of options in that position though. Lastly our forwards need to go forward and defend.

Really is irrelevant and a waste of time what we want the side to be. Because you read some replies and they aren’t even in the same universe or what the side will actually be. Much easier to talk in terms of what you think the round 1 side will be.

He hasn’t played NRL for 3-4 years and isn’t even a proven NRL player as it is. That ends it right there. If he lives up to everyone’s expectations, let’s have a chat next off season when we will be looking for a captain.
