Your team for Round 3

I am all for promoting players who are ready, in my opinion, from the lower grades. Not just those playing for BRET.

I agree with that, and I will move on.

Lazarus is not the option we want at fullback for mine if we move Moltzen to the halves. That combination needs time to gel. Put in a hard running fullback who puts his body on the line and can bark orders at a defensive line and run at the ruck off players hips.

and who may that be?

1.Tuqiri
2\. Ryan
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Brown
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen
8\. Galloway
9\. Farah
10\. Gibbs
11\. Heighington
12\. Ellis
13\. Fulton

14\. Payten
15\. A Fafita
16\. Gower
17\. Cayless

Moltzen is confusing the structure of the team. He should be number 14 not Fitzhenry.

When all are fit and young stocks are blooded I'd be leaning towards.

1\. Mullaney
2\. Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuiaki
6\. Marshall
7\. Lazarus
8\. KG
8\. Farah
10\. Gibbs
11\. Ellis
12\. Payten
13\. Fulton

14\. Moltzen
15\. Fifita
16\. Moors
17\. Gower

But what do I know.

Mullaney was ordinary in the 20's yesterday. Decided to play in the last 10 minutes when the game was in the balance and otherwise looked like he didn't want to be out there. And he's a bigger defensive liability than Moltzen at fullback.

I think you'll find that I said when all the players are fit and the youngsters are blooded. I wouldn't be running that side out on Friday obviously.

1.Lazarus
2.ryan
3.ashford

7.tuamata
8.gibbs
9.farah

13.fulton
14.a.fifita
15.cayless
16.heington

18\. J.shirnack( id have al if was fit.)

I see SHEENS naming a 20 man squad this week with the effect similar to this

1\. Fitzhenry
2\. Ryan
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuqiri
6\. Marshall
7\. Moltzen

8\. Gibbs
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Ellis
12\. Heighington
13\. Fulton

14\. Flanagan
15\. Fifita
16\. Moors
17\. Cayless
18\. Payten
19\. Schirnack
20\. Daniela

MY 17 would be

1\. Moltzen
2\. Ryan
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Tuqiri
6\. Marshall
7\. Lazarus

8\. Gibbs
9\. Farah
10\. Galloway
11\. Ellis
12\. Heighington
13\. Fulton

14\. Flanagan
15\. Fifita
16\. Payten
17\. Cayless

But i seriously doubt that would be the squad

1) Mullaney
2) Ryan

5) Tuqiri
6) Marshal
7) Lazurus
8) Gibbs
9) Farah

Dropping Heighno for Payten who hasn't even played a trial, let alone keeping Flanagan ahead of him and promoting Mullaney who has looked ordinary in his last two NYC outings?

I think the team will be:
1\. Moltzen, 2\. Ryan, 3\. Ayshford, 4\. Lawrence, 5\. Tuqiri, 6\. Marshall, 7\. Lazarus, 8\. Moors, 9\. Farah. 10\. Galloway, 11\. Payten, 12\. Fulton, 13\. Heighington, 14\. Fitzhenry, 15\. A Fifita, 16\. Gower, 17\. Flanagan.

I'd like to see:

Don't think it is any coincidence that Sheens had a good long chat with Meaney after yesterdays State Cup clash. If he is over him hamstring niggle it would not suprise to see him there.

Lote will be a good option but I am not sure he is ready or even capable of directing a defensive structure (one of the primary roles of a fullback and one of Moltzens primary failures).

Time will tell whast option is taken though. If we lose Ellis to suspension and Gibbs & Fulton are not back it is unlikely Moltzen will be moved as there is already a fair bit of team disruption

Dont get out to the state league games, How dose Meaney go ??? he came to us from Manly a few years ago with a big rap as a player and goal kicker is he up to NRL standard or just your average state league player???

Look I believe he is a perfect solution for right now. He is an aggresive ball runner, good under the high ball and posesses a real knack for organising a defensive line. He kicks at about 85% as well.

NRL is a big step and it is a big call but personally I believe he is up to it. Others don't though

After watching him the last 2 weeks…I think you could be right..... for his positional play alone....he does bring the ball back with plenty of aggression......Kicking goals is also a bonus....

Can't see Sheens going down path can you....

I think we will see..

1\. Moltzen
2 Tuqiri
3\. Ayshford
4\. Lawrence
5\. Ryan

6\. Marshall
7\. Lazarus

13\. Heighno
12\. Fulton
11\. Ellis
10\. Galloway
9\. Farah
8\. Moors

14\. Cayless
15\. Gibbs
16\. Flanagan
17\. Fitzhenry

I can't name the side I'd pick yet because I am not sure about injuries or a possible suspension but I can name a backline I'd like to see this week against Parra:

1\. Tuqiri
2\. Lawrence
3\. Moltzen
4\. Ayshford
5\. Pritchard
6\. Marshall
7\. Lazarus

You know it makes sense

Good backline Alien if Lazarus is as good as people (CT and Staks) say he is.

Well I sort of agree with CT and Staks. The truth is though no one can be sure 100% until he plays halfback in firstgrade. Lazarus has done well in NSW Cup at halfback lately and in my opinion he should get a shot in firstgrade at halfback on Friday. This could be his big chance. C'mon Sheens, you know it makes sense. :sunglasses:

No I am happy to put him in. He fits into (from descriptions) what I consider to be a halfback whereas Moltzen doesnt. I find it a little bit strange that people consider Moltz to be a halfback when he completely lacks a long kicking game. Lazarus sounds like a better version of a Jason Taylor (solid, reliable and feeds his backline) which I think would suit our team perfectly.

Whether he is ready given his long lay off is another question. But I guess you never know until you try.

Where do you put Moltzen then? Keeping in mind that he is not a fullback?

The only other place for him is the centres and I don't think Ayshford deserves to be dropped. Unless you move him to the wing and have:

1\. Tuqiri
2\. Ayshford
3\. Moltzen
4\. Lawrence
5\. Ryan
6\. Marshall
7\. Lazarus

But Sheens won't be shuffling so many players around.

Hybrid,

Thats why I have conceded he should be in the 7\. But people shouldnt think that means he will be playing halfback - he wont. My preference would be to have him the centres partnering Lawrence on the wing. They seem to communicate well together and would be a good pairing. But I doubt this will happen, so yeh number 7 is fine.

Moltzen
Tuqiri
Ayshford
Lawrence
Ryan
Marshall
Lazarus
Highno
Fulton
Ellis
Galloway
Farah
Cayless (only because he a) needs the game time and b) we need better of the bench)

Payten
Gibbs
Flanagan
Fitzhenry / Fifita - I like the back on the bench concept but with forwards coming back from injury perhaps give Fifita another run this week - Fitzy would be unlucky though
