Your Top 8 & Woodenspooner

Have to put in my Top 8 for this year on Friday…....extra points for picking the Top 4\. Who will be the other 7 teams?

Take out Hayne and Sandow and Parra are fighting for the spoon. Nothing about them impresses me at all. Canberra are the real dark horse imo. If they're forwards can harden up and not play like powder puffs like they did last yr and Dugan and Campese can stay fit, then they are shoe-ins for the 8

As far the 8 goes, at this stage i'd probably go, in no particular order
Tigers
Broncos
Warriors
Storm
Canberra
Knights
Bulldogs
Manly

I struggle to see why everyone is still rating the Broncos

They have just lost the guy who pulls out the big play for them when they need it

They have a good forward pack sure but no one who can use that field position once they get there They will be competitive sure but I can't see a top 8 position

1\. Melbourne Storm
2\. Manly Sea Eagles
3\. Newcastle Knights
4\. Nth Qld Cowboys
5\. Souths Sydney Rabbits
6\. New Zealand Warriors
7\. Wests Tigers
8\. Gold Coast Titans

Manly wont faulter this year, but next could be a different story.
Brisbane will struggle with the 'right' plays to be consistent enough.
Uncle Wayne to stiffen the Knights defence to make them more competitive.
Titans will be big movers, but will only just make up the numbers.
Dragons will struggle off and on the field and will come out of the 8.
Tigers will get off to a slow start, but has too much talent to not be in the 8.

Rabbits vs Tigers Grand Final!

wests-tigers
knights
sharks
raiders
storm
bulldogs
rabbitohs
cowboys

no order. 😛ray: that wests-tigers finish in top 3
wests-tigers playing to their potential, is really all that concerns me.

I see your point, Happy, but the Broncos have way too much precocious, young talent in their side to not succeed! Throw in the few experienced old heads, plus the return of Petero, and I actually don't think they will miss Darren that much at all.

1\. Hoffman
2\. Yow Yeh
3\. Reed
4\. Hodges
5\. Copley
6\. Norman
7\. Wallace
8\. Hannant
9\. McCulloch
10\. Civoniceva
11\. Thaiday
12\. Glenn
13\. Parker

14\. Hunt
15\. Gillett
16\. McGuire
17\. Dodds

not a bad side at all, I think Wallace will step it up big time, especially behind that forward pack. Plenty of depth in their squad too. Also they'll pull 2-3 gun juniors from no where like they always seem to do.

MM I just can't see Wallace and Norman having the ability to steer them around the paddock Teams will concentrate in controlling them in the forwards and you will beat them 9 time out of ten

If I was coaching a side against the Broncos i would try and get them in a points war because i just don't think they will have lots of points in them

Happy Tiger,I haven't heard of the term 'points war' before. I'm assuming by the rest of your post that you mean a low scoring, grinding approach (similar to the Dragons) to a game?

Brisbane will have Beale in the starting team and Teo on the bench at a minimum, so I'm thinking they will line up more like this:

1\. Beale
6\. Hoffman
7\. Wallace

Not everyone at the club is convinced Norman is ready, and without Gillet or Teo starting, they will lack off loads to create any second phase play. Bottom 8 for my liking.

This year is a bit of a puzzle. The following thoughts are making it difficult:
1\. Will Manly go OK without Des at the helm? Will the team implode?
2\. How will Bris go without Lockyer? Already lots of discussion there.
3\. How will Saints go without Bennett?
4\. Can Souths show some consistency this year?
5\. Why were the Raiders so hopeless last year and will they pick up their game?
6\. Will the changes at Newcastle mean a big improvement in performance over this year?
7\. Todd Carney at the Sharks. Bad luck to shark supporters.

Will our Tigers live up to the expectations of the fans and how will they cope with favoritism???
