Your Top 8 & Woodenspooner

This year is a bit of a puzzle. The following thoughts are making it difficult:
1\. Will Manly go OK without Des at the helm? Will the team implode?
2\. How will Bris go without Lockyer? Already lots of discussion there.
3\. How will Saints go without Bennett?
4\. Can Souths show some consistency this year?
5\. Why were the Raiders so hopeless last year and will they pick up their game?
6\. Will the changes at Newcastle mean a big improvement in performance over this year?
7\. Todd Carney at the Sharks. Bad luck to shark supporters.
Tricky 😱pen_mouth:

The Raiders were 'hopeless' because Campese only played 5 mins the entire year, and Dugan struggled the whole yr with injury as well. Also, it didn't help that Matt Orford turned out to be a failure. Campese and Dugan stay fit this yr they'll be the big improvers

I struggle to see why everyone is still rating the Broncos

They have just lost the guy who pulls out the big play for them when they need it

They have a good forward pack sure but no one who can use that field position once they get there They will be competitive sure but I can't see a top 8 position

I see your point, Happy, but the Broncos have way too much precocious, young talent in their side to not succeed! Throw in the few experienced old heads, plus the return of Petero, and I actually don't think they will miss Darren that much at all.

I agree Flip…the Broncs will be there abouts again. The argument about no playmaker can certainly apply to us as well. I think some kids will step up for both us and them and we'll all be there.

I'm with you guys there… The only weak link in Brisbane is Andrew "Feet for Hands" McCullough.

Please ,Please ,Please don't try and tell me everyone you all rate Corey Norman as a 6 and Wallace and Norman as a quality halves pairing ??

Is the world about to end or something ??

Have a look at their spine ,really You can't rate them in any way shape or form as a serious contender

LOL settle down, Happy! I'm not so much focusing on Norman and Wallace, but the quality of the players all around them, who will only need some good ball in order for them to fire and Wallace, at least, is able to provide this. Also, Beale is an outstanding prospect.

I think there will be massive improvements with Cronulla, Parramatta and Canterbury.

Manly and Dragons to do it tough with all the massive disruptions/changes.

Souths I just don't know about?????

You could seriously make a top 8 claim for just about every team this year. Except maybe the Roosters.

Teams like Eels, Sharks, Knights and Dogs have recruited well. Dragons are on the slide but will still be competitive.

I wouldnt be surprised to see about two wins separating 4 to 14 at the end of the season.

But I'm confident we have the squad to make the GF. Possibly against the Storm.

Tigers
Storm
Knights
Bulldogs
Sea Eagles
Warriors
Broncos
Cowboys

Spoon: Roosters

my top 8 are in no order tigers. cowboys.rabbits.storm. stgeorge.brisbane bulldogs.newcastle. manly and the warriors will be in trouble with the new coaches. wooden spooners parramatta sandow may go missing

In no order:

Manly - Their experienced players will guide them through without Hasler.
Melbourne - Too much class.
Brisbane - Good youngsters, a good forward pack, may take some time for their 5/8 to settle but I think they've got the players to make the finals.
Us - Same as Brisbane except our 7 is the question mark
Cronulla - A bit of a shock but they've got a good forward pack, a reasonable 1, 6, 7 and 9 and showed some signs last season of lifting.
Bulldogs - Hodkinson is probably a forgotten man but I think he can strike a good combo with Barba and as much as I hate him I think Ennis will get the forwards moving forward. Hasler will improve their fitness levels as well.
Canberra - I think they'll bounce back this year but they must improve their defence and their forwards need to improve their fitness
Souths - Basically a toss up with some other teams and I have no idea why I picked them.

For the spoon, as much as I hate to say it because its an important year for them and therefore the game. But I reckon its a toss up between:
Penrith and
Gold Coast.

I guess you could say there are some notable omissions with St George, Warriors and Newcastle missing out. I think the Dragons are going to struggle for points this year, with Bennett gone, their defence may leak a bit more. The Warriors have lost Cleary and I can see some guys having 2nd year syndrome. And I dont think Newcastle will improve enough to snare a spot. Signing Buderus is a step backwards in my opinion.

1\. Melbourne
2\. Newcastle
3\. Manly
4\. Wests Tigers
5\. NZ Warriors
6\. NQ
7\. Souths
8\. Penrith

9\. Brisbane

Oh how I would love to see he dragons miss the 8… Their fans would go ballistic!!! And blame Moltzen.... Lol... I'm not a fan of Newcastle either watch Bennett and Tinkler start blueing when things don't go well !! And I'd love to see the rorters miss the 8 and lastly those Stewart brothers at Manly watch them stab Toovey in the back as they implode in 2012 !!
