IMO you can NOT pick him next week,

He will be bombed into the stone age immediately. You can so "so what, he gets a chance to make up for it"...but he had that chance after the 3rd or fourth chance today.

Let him catch bombs for a few weeks in KOE. We can not afford that in first grade.

He won’t be there next week ..
Talau will be back ..

Madge intimated he won't be there next week in the post-match conference.

Cini or Talau?

Cini mate, mentioned the rise and fall of young players adapting to NRL after good debuts.

If Zac misses out at least he has gone 100% above the many 1 game wonders we have had throughout the years..

Sitting with Blake Lazarus ATM..

Are you .....how many halfbacks do you have at your place .....Mat Head ,John Simon ......is Field on day release ??

Jesus how are some of you blokes even considering picking Cini again? It was very clear after his confidence was shot he was praying the ball wouldn’t keep coming his way.

One of the bombs towards the end of the game he completely gave up trying to catch it and just flapped his arm out. His confidence is completely shot and he needs to go back to reggies and build his way back up. You’re seriously going to put him back on the wing again next week? He didn’t want the ball. It’s not fair to him. I’m no fan of Talau at all, but he’s at least not overwhelmed.

The other thing is, who cares. It doesn’t matter who we pick or what we do. We are a broken club and no one knows how to fix it.

The kid needs to get his confidence back under the high ball at training this week. He over ran his position under the high ball last night and was left trying to catch the ball behind him in the air. Plan your run up better and don't freak out by racing up too quick.

I totally agree. We need to rotate players until they don't get caught out. If they get caught out drop them and tell them they have to learn in reserve grade. Fix the problem and perform in reserve grade and you will get another chance.

How many got caught out last night? Howe many could you drop?

Cini to me is the only one that should get dropped and that is because he was really poor. Other players could be dropped but mainly too try other options. Brooks probably fits the second category.

I'm with you on dropping players but I
wouldn't know where to stop after last night.

at 18 .....that would be fair ..wouldn't it

Completely coaches decision here if he plays next week. If he’s rattled then he returns to magpies. Best thing is to go back and get on the horse in first grade I feel. He’s a rookie with a great attitude looks like a real goer.

It’s a tough one do you reward a game like that with letting him put on the jersey again or show it’s not acceptable.

Tend to think it’s more important to show it’s not acceptable.

Of course he gets dropped. Talau will be back. Cini needed a blinder to stay there and had a shocker. All parts of learning to be an NRL player. If you leave him there you reward mediocrity, the very thing we are trying to get away from. People talk about shattering him if you drop him, well what will definitely shatter him will be if the same thing happens this week.
If a player can’t take those lessons on board, go away, work on it and earn a recall than KOE is about the level they should stay at.

who Cini

Not sure whats the best option- replacing Mbye with Talau and letting Cini play again OR leaving Mbye in Centre and Talau on the wing and dropping Cini back to reggies.
Perhaps Talau and Cini together is just too much of a risk.

What rubbish. We've rewarded mediocrity for years. Now all of a sudden one game is the tipping point for all players moving forwards? Rubbish

That's exactly how you destroy the confidence of every player in the backline, an and destroy and chemistry/combinations between players

Lots of points here.

Does confidence have any impact on performance or does performance impact confidence ? My take is that any player who gets dropped and then loses all confidence and cannot play to a high level again isn't a first grader.

As for chemistry and combinations I agree with you but we are losing anyway.

I'm also not stating drop every single player. I'm just stating when they get caught out like Cini was. That was extreme and not a little stuff up.

He needs to work on aspects of his game. He doesn't offer enough to accept his shortcomings especially in a position like winger.

it's about becoming a technically better player without the pressure of performing in first grade.

Last week he produced the best performance from any of our wingers all season. By a mile. That in itself warrants a second chance.

Nof, Kepaoa and Talau have all survived numerous shocking performances. For Madge to start picking and choosing which players deserve a second chance would be very dangerous.

Madge only promotes and demoted based on defensive output. Not sure Cini did much wrong there.
If we are building to the future I’d stick Cini at Centre put MBye on the bench and bring talau back on the wing. Hooker can be a heads or tails flip between Simpkin and Liddle. Unfortunately MByes position is off the bench.

Cini just made too many mistakes especially early in the game which cost us, wasn’t just bombs but passes he dropped. I don’t think I’ve seen a player drop the ball 5-6 times in a game, he probably does get the boot, I think it’s fair. Sucks for him, but at least AJ offers high meters and less mistakes per game. Talau comes straight back in anyways, so cini most likely out. Wasn’t one of mybe’s best game, but I guess he stays just because he covers different positions. Hopefully we have more impact on our bench. Need to get on the front foot more and give our halves time and space to attack.
