interesting comments from Matthew Johns on SEN radio this morning in relation to Brooks
Apparently Newcastle were absolutely certain they had Brooks signed and sealed to replace Pearce, then Brooks had discussions with Sheens and stayed with Tigers.
Johns was of the opinion Madge would likely not be coaching us in 2023

Since Sheens came on board, the WTs have brought together a coaching structure of quality. This would allow the Club to appoint a younger coach such as Ciraldo or promote one of our young assistants. Just my view but that was my immediate thought of the direction of the coaching changes. It gives the club options it didn't previously have last year.

Brooks cant leave unless the club terminates his Contract and Madge has been very consistent about Brooks, but all of a sudden Sheens "convinced" Brooks to stay and all is cool?

agree I think with sheens on board ciraldo might be a real option in 2023 for us

maybe Sheens said to Brooks he has faith in his ability and told him to shake off some of madges outrage who knows. Johns said they were shocked Brooks didn't ask for a release it seems strange for him to say that if it was not the case, he criticised them for letting Pearce go without Brooks confirming

West Life podcast these guys said Brooks manager had line up the deal with Newcastle. Newcastle was had agreed to terms, Brooks had agreed then Sheens stepped in and said no.

So I guess you’re saying Sheens simply reminded Brooks that he had a contract? Maybe so?
Personally I don’t believe Matt’s Explanation. It sounded as though he was defending the Knights position, while praising Sheens, as a measure of their difficulty.
