RIP SHANE WARNE

Seriously I’m sick of this crap..one of our greatest ever cricketers and Australian Icon has past yet there is post after post of utter bullshit between posters on all sides..

Give it a rest and show some respect to Shane Warne..

If you want to continue with the diatribe do it in Personal messages

Leave this thread for the memories of Shane K Warne..

Thank you

I think most people have already shared their views on Warnie by now though TBH. There wouldn't be a thread on here that doesn't de-rail at some point.

Was just reading his Twitter. A few days ago he posted that he was going on a health kick. So maybe he didn’t feel quite right.

This is just my romantic view of the world and it would never happen but I would love to see cricket's hierarchy posthumously give Shane the century taken off him in that test against NZ when he was out for 99. Had the blatant no-ball been called by the umpire, Shane would have played the same shot and run through for a single before the catcher could have thrown down the stumps. Add one run to Shane's score and take one off sundries and the scorebooks are balanced and Shane gets the century he earned. What a nice gesture to thank Shane for his contribution to cricket.
Don't tell me it can't or won't be done, I know that.

Agreed.
He was telling a story this morning about Rod Marsh and the whole thing was about him. Seems a horrible bloke to me.
Ian Chappell is one of Australia's greatest cricketers and one of crickets greatest captains. Sure he was not known for his graces but he was a driving force behind the professionalism of cricket. For those who do not know this, Shane Warne described Ian Chappell as the biggest influence on his career. For those mourning the loss of Warne (as am I), take a minute to think of the role Ian Chappell must have had in his development to warrant this praise.

I like that he blew his chance.
It is very him to go for the hero slog on 99 when approaching a long awaited and hard to achieve milestone.
The fact he let the glory go to his head, is him in a nutshell. Go hard or go home was his motto.
The fact it was a no ball just adds to the humorous status of this story and will ensure it is never forgotten…

I am aware of his status in the game and agree with it.
That said, he is every bit the “mr rent-a-quote” that Benny Elias is and as an opinion sprouter, I find him a narcicistic imbecile, with all the likeability of choc Mundine. This morning he couldn’t even tell an anecdote of a great friend of his Rod Marsh, without elevating himself to the centrepiece of what was quite a boring story.

Ian Chappell doesn't need to elevate himself to the central role. Even if he did, he deservedly has a prominent place in cricket history. The wonderful legacy, the outstanding career of Shane Warne, is part of an impressive regime.

As stated, he used to get his rocks off by going on safari and shooting rhino's etc for his own pleasure. No time at all for scumbags like that, want to prove your manhood?.......jump out of the safety of the truck and kill them with your bare hands.
One of the kids that I coached in cricket paid to go to Africa and shot a loin, when I seen the photos of him kneeling with his rifle next to this dead loin I gave him the biggest serve that I have ever given anyone.
An absolute disgrace.
I never knew about McGrath shootings wild animals so I’m we you now disliking him.

Can't disagree with what you've said. It's a bit like Bradman. His average is more interesting because it's 99.94. It would be anywhere near as interesting if it was 100.23.

I was shot in the loin once. Painful.

Mark Richardson‘s bow to the crowd was a funny touch that added to the moment.
I was talking about that to my wife today and I was trying to recall what made him do that. I can only imagine the crowd were previously giving it to him because he'd dropped a catch or misfielded or maybe just because he was a New Zealander.

I assumed it was because he took a catch of a batsman on 99 and he knew the crowd would be deflated. It was also the last wicket of the innings on the final ball of the day. Lots of factors. Funny fact about Mark Richardson, he was considered the slowest man in world cricket and once competed against Darren Lehman in a 100m sprint.

Haha, yes I remember. He'd have to be slow to be slower than Arjuna Ranatunga. I think Ian Healy once said to him, when he asked for a runner, "you can't have a runner just because you're fat".
