Train hard now and be a champion for the rest of your life- Ali
Do our players show enough respect for habits that strengthen their resolve and self discipline?
Madge has been working his guts out to get our blokes to show that resolve and self discipline @twentyforty.

Remember when he decided our blokes should train on after they had played their last game the 1st year he was with us.
I remember quite a few on here saying 'who does this bloke think he is', and I probably thought that as well.

We've managed to put together a bunch of blokes that have no respect for the apparently old fashioned attitude that blokes like Rowdy [I've forgotten his name] displayed.

Yes, I noticed that too. But that's not attitude, that's media training.

To me, the same old problem is what I've posted many times before. No real leader that others respect and are scared of. I think that's why Tamou was signed, but he has failed.

Someone like a Finucane, who others are forced to follow through respect. Not too many available and the good ones are rare anyway. The real leader wouldn't chew gum at interview and so others wouldn't either, they copy from respect, not because they are told to.

I'd also go big and pay $$$ for a package deal. Rather than a lonely leader, maybe a Yeo and Fisher-Harris. Sure, it won't happen but that's the example. They become the culture and direction and there is more than one. We could help with the bulldogs cap and take Josh Jackson and Luke Thompson.

It's not always the skill left in their tank. It's what they bring mentally and experience wise.
We need someone who comes from a winning culture but still wants to prove something.

No better example than Cronk at Roosters.

Lol ..If Coops wanted to prove something he would have signed with a battling team and lead them to glory.. not one Premiership Ready brimming with superstars already..

Cronk fell into a dream gig at the Roosters though. International after International as his teammates, no salary-cap constraints apply, refs in your pocket most weeks. Would be very interested to see how many things he could've changed at a club like ours or another club of no-hopers.

The NRL media machine
Stuff the football.... Give us drama, sex drugs

MG reckons you Dont see.penrith doing this.
Yiu only see Penrith racking lines before GFs
Doesn't MG remember Tyrone May?
I am bloody sure he does, funny statement for him to make TBH with that incident being so raw for him.

They don't go back to back without Cronk.. simple.

I wasn't comparing Roosters to us, I was comparing the signing.

Roosters signed someone who was motivated to win, wanted to prove that he can win without Smith/Slater/Bellamy.

Cronk's signing with Roosters is probably the signing of the decade.

Interesting point MAGPIES1963. Madge did begin his Tigers coaching career as a hard taskmaster, and his first year was his best so far.
He has obviously had to go softer after recognising his players in general aren’t tough minded enough to either accept a candid critique of their performance or respond well from some gruelling training. What did he say after one of the losses? I need men?
Bennett treats elite players with leniency. Our players want the same latitude without first of all showing elite qualities. Benji couldn’t play under Madge because he was a GF flick passer.
I think Madge has had to make a few allowances because he has possibly the youngest squad in the NRL? He’s probably working on how he can develop trust and sell the benefits of his style of training.
Madge has a really good record with elite players, eg Souths, NZ, I imagine it’s because they understand that they need the tough love?

He was a passenger in the 2nd GF, did nothing! 🤣
