Brooks Bashers Bore Me

Comparing the Brooks arguments to that of religion only goes to show the unwavering faith Brooks fans have. And how potentially unhealthy it is.

It also demonstrates how evidence or fact play no part in your decision.

Sadly, faith doesn’t win premierships. And once again this is another irrelevant metaphor and argument for a basis for any footballing decisions.
I think you mistake a lot of support for Brooks - with acceptable there are no other realistic options to replace him with.

Even the replacements that are rolled out here - have like 6 games for the club between them…

I personally am not an advocate to keep Brooks at the club - if we had signable options that bought more to the team, I’d help pack his bags and wish him well… I just don’t see better options at the moment - despite the fanfare attached to them.

Now down the track that might not prove to be the case - but right here, right now - he’s the best 7 at the club and I see no sense in making another team stronger to make ours weaker… and paying top dollar for it to happen

I think realist is a better term than supporter. I think like you, all of us who play devils advocate on the subject would pack his bags for an elite halfback, but there isn’t one, and no one has really offered up any suitable replacements.

Agreed,in an ideal world we would have a decent replacement. However we don't

Now this is a good topic. Talks to the solution rather than the problem.

I don’t know who to replace him with. A mix of Madden, Hastings and Douehi? It’s going to be a mess no doubt, putting square pegs into round holes. But IMO it’s a helluva lot better than persisting with Brooks who is proven not to be a halfback anyway, nor a leader.

I just don’t see any value in him whatsoever. If anything, I see him as a liability; destructive to our attack and to our progressing as a team.

Either way, he isn’t playing well. And if we want to send a message about our culture and about our intent, he needs to be dropped. It’s pretty simple.

Also, I fail to see how how he could make any other team stronger. There is just no evidence for that.

That’s more the problem I think people have with him - if he was 400k… maybe no one has a problem?
If it comes to value - where do we go, 600k for Flanagan? 1 mill for Johnson, Milford or Ash Taylor? There’s not much out there - so we’ve had to pay to keep a half a bit above mid comp level…
we’re not the only club in the last 5 years to not get value for money out of a 7..
the main difference that I’ve seen, is a lot of other clubs have a bit more quality in other positions to help balance it out a bit - we don’t.
Since 2017 - I’d almost say us and the dogs are the only sides not to have an origin rep (I don’t count Mbye’s minute in the sun there - that was just dumb picking - and he certainly wasn’t picked in form)

Truth is Brooks has been our only player for the last few years that looks likely to do anything… and no, it’s not getting the results.
I wonder if teddy was still here and we’d not made the finals (which I suggest would be the case) - would we want him sacked also…
To a point Brooks is a victim of the club, our forwards - through to centres have been mostly puss his entire existence. (Fluttering a of a shining light here and there)

I don’t have the answer man, he’s better than quite a few other halves in the comp and paying him a motsa to play at another club seems dumb when we have nothing proven to replace him.

As for making other teams stronger - there isn’t a club he wouldn’t automatically improve (even as a bench utility) if he joins… weakens us and makes them stronger and only costs us cap wise - I can’t swallow it

Nope… what that says is your maths ain’t good…

Both the players you mentioned - left the club in 2017 (a year before the year you’re referring to) Moses actually left early in 2017…
Batboy. Please read again. Maybe when your batman you would understand.

Someone may have responded but as a halfback he should be barking orders on what to be done and take control and blast them if they don’t listen . As halfback he is the genneral .

Look at Moses last night he blew up deluxe when he had whole set , set up for field goal and Mahoney went for glory play .
This imo is Brooks flaw. Not his bombs everyone complains about ( they should be complaining yo Madge as that would be his game plan otherwise he would hooked brooks long ago for doing those kicks )
I’m pretty sure Joey would have went straight to coach Hagan or Ryan or Reilly after the game and said Daine Laurie is never to play FG again. Johns never had to be a general to such numpties.

There is no validity or credibility any respectable tigers fan should get who suggest Brooks is a good player, worthy of staying our halfback.

It’s simply not a valid opinion anymore that he is a good player or even potentially good halfback.
Rather it’s an objective, evidence-based fact that he is not.

I agreed with the OP and am only too happy to pause the Brooks bashing as I agree it’s boring.
But if the Brooks supporters (not necessarily you) want to continue goading the critics by provoking with invalid opinions, then those lies will be shut down - as they should be.
Leave it at that.
You are just repeatedly stating your opinions. We all watch the games and most people have a different opinion to you.

If you want to win an argument, provide facts and evidence. Then there is something to argue about.

Rua is struggling in reggies so yep get him in first grade
My point was that I’ve not seen anything special about Simpkins… he is average.
And that Rua looks like he COULD become a great hooker of the game.

Could be an immature statement, but at the moment.. it’s just how I feel.

( Mods, Apologies for going off topic)

I agree.

LOVE this guy!

Can we get him as a coach, pretty sure he will work for free, club just has to cover the fines.

Match officials already bringing the game into disrpute but with the help of this guy the NRL could go to a new level.
It would be a bloodbath if Tooves took over.
Hed get the top 30 in a room, read out seven names and tell the rest to pack up and piss off 🤣
