LIVE GAME Wests Tigers v St George *Spoilers

Live Game Discussion
I thought we played pretty well. Hastings again was our best on field - amazing job leading the pack around. I've said it plenty of times - our packs over the years haven't been bad, it's just we've lacked an organiser. Benji even in his old age was never the greatest and Brooks is one of the worst organisers the league has seen given the number of games he's played at halfback.

The pack was pretty good. I has concerns about Tuilagi's lateral movement - those two tries the Dragons scored down that side were always a risk of coming. He hits em well front on and can be a weapon in attack, but he has some ways to go defensively, especially against your runners with better footwork. Can't fault any of the props, Ofa or Luciano.

I thought Kepaoa was ok. He's passable even if he won't be a world beater. Less said about Gildart the better. Garner and Hastings have made our right side defence incredibly strong (noting that Leilua and Nofoaluma have been problems in the past but are looking fine now). Garner is pretty hopeless in attack when he's not running into holes on the left edge though. He's a good stop gap for now, but long-term I think he fits into the 17 jersey pretty well.

I'm not going to bag To'a. Tried his guts out, not a fullback. Will do a good job on the wing or centres when asked though. Great player to have around.

Brooks had an OK game I thought. Few nice cross-field kicks and the try was a good finish, but not really decisive enough. I will give him a pass for this week because To'a really isn't a fullback and our outside backs don't help him. He's also been better than he was earlier in the year but still a very replaceable player. Even last week he was pretty bad outside of the field goal. Doueihi takes his spot at this rate. I really don't get why we're subbing him off for Madden though. Stunts our momentum and Madden isn't a creative player. I'd much rather it be Peachey - more of an x-factor than Madden and more unique skillset.

Im not slitting my wrists.

We lost and should have had a better result today againsts an average opponent.

We played the full 80, lits of players unavailable or out of position. We will be better for the run.

As a club I am happy with the direction that we are headed.

The wins will come.

Not sure when Ken is back. But Gildart can't be there next week.

1. Toa
2. Nofa
3. Garner
4. Peachey
5. AJ

Peachey is too slow for fullback, and Toa is relatively safe, but no ball playing ability.

So have them swap in attack, so Peachey can be another ball player in the backline and Toa can play centre when attacking.

Hopefully Ken is back this week. NRL website says R9 return.

Didn't finish watching until 8 o'clock.

We competed and in fact dominated for long periods but couldn't drop the axe when chances arose. Given the numbers out we didn't do too bad and could have won.
Kepaoa was good after the layoff and others did well - Gildart; however, despite a couple of OK moments, continued to show why he isn't up to it.

Yeah - Not a fan of To'a at the back...
Doesn't have the miles in him.

I'm still shocked at the number of line breaks or times people get the nose through and there's just no fullback.... Anywhere - No matter who it is.
Yep good call and liddle went well but he needs to follow his forward once he gives him the ball .if we had api in that game he would of killed it

Our pack went well.

Gildart sorry is not NRL standard and if Ken is available next round I would drop him and move AJ into centre.

Toa is a Centre not Full back even though he has done well but does not pass the ball.

As back depth is an issue could they use Brooks at full back and moved Madden or Peachy to 5/8.

Brooks can pass the ball, has some pace and can defend. Only a makeshift option I am suggesting unless we have a hidden gem in State Cup to use?

My backline for next week

Brooks
Noffo
Toa
AJ
Ken

Madden/Peachy
Hastings

Garner to bench and Gildart on the plane back to the UK.

For future success I would give Toa and AJ an extended chance in the centres with an eye to 2023.

I would ask Cowboys would they swap Drinkwater for LL before 30 June as they also have hammer

Or I would ask Manly would they swap Tugillua for an outside back especially one who can play full back.

Daine Laurie given his slight build for an NRL player appears to me to be a player who will miss a few games due to injuries so a decent back up full back is required now or 2023 if WT want to complete with the better teams.

Surely there is a decent full back waiting their chance in State Cup or QLD Cup we can sign asap to fill the last spot in the Top 30?

I would love WT to throw what ever money it takes to sign Kotoni Staggs

Damn we got so close to a golden point game again
Had we scored & converted in the last minute I reckon we would’ve won by 1 point again 😂

Only thing we were robbed of was football IQ.
Rubbish, if Tualagi doesn't score because it's deemed a knock on and they awarded a penalty for lomax tackling him without the ball mid air, then that's the very definition of a penalty try. But it's only the Tigers so it doesn't matter,
We need to consider half our spine were out points for us were always going to be a premium.

I’m genuinely not worried about that game

Effort was there, we powered through them. Just couldn’t capitalise.

Tuilagi no try was a try.

If we had our preferred 1-5 we win that but we had a back rower at centre and our least preferred centre on the other end. No combinations etc
