I won't call them cheer leaders but they are much less biased. The ABC in general is still biased towards the left but it's not that bad.
The ABC has always given more stick to the incumbents than the opposition. It's just the way things work.

The fact that it's been 10 years since the coalition took office means they have received more attention. And we of course notice it more.

And the way they've thrown money (and largesse ie statutory authority appointments to cronies) at owned and marginal seats is disgraceful.

I know Labor has probably done it in the past and I'm just as critical.

If Albanese wins, and he selects a non-partisan committee to select public service (with no political interference), high earning appointments he'll win me. Sophie Mirabella being appointed to the Submarine Authority and recently appointed (just before the election was called) to the AAT is a disgrace!

not much don't mind David Speers no him personally nice bloke
Don't tend to watch rubbish so therefore don't watch ABC

ABC and SBS have quality TV mate. Much better than the commercial crap.

I reckon Speers is a fantastic journalist. Much more factual and unbiased plus generally well researched.

Watch The Responder on SBS. One of the best shows I've watched in a while.

About as clued in as you are on economics.

My degree in Commerce with a major in economics is shit hey.

Sorry about that.

Do you have any factual comments rather than loud opinionated and rude BS ? I bet you don't.

Speers is a good bloke, surprised he took the abc gig but the only shining light Aunty has

If you ever doubt the worth of the public broadcasters have a geek at these.

I'm mostly on Radio National on the way to work and way home. Monday Norman Swan - I know, I know, but a clever man who has a great show (not a fan of the co-presenter style currently). Then on Tuesday listen to the Law Report with Damien Carrick - one of the best shows you'll hear. Then Andrew West on Wednesdays (he's on leave now) with the Religion and Ethics Report. Then on Thursday Richard Aedy with commentary on the economy. You can have Friday off - Download This Show is a giggle fest of millennials.

If none of this floats your boat there is the best of the best - Maeve O'Meara on SBS in any cooking show she ever hosts. Gourmet Safaris? Best shows ever!

The system is corrupt ATM, and must be modified to better reflect the listeners/TV watchers preferences.
IMHO the best system is vouchers, the money that is now paid to the SBS/ABC is divided to the vouchers. (This money can be only used as a source of financing the broadcasters.)
Each taxpayer can than decide which broadcaster will receive its/hers/his money, and this is updated each year i.e. at the beginning of the financial year.
The recipients could be:
- local broadcasters (local ABC, or other);
- national broadcasters (ABC, ch9, ch7, ch10, sky news etc.);

The tax payers can than decide how to distribute their vouchers,
e.g. 100% to the local broadcaster, 50% to the local, and 50% to the national or any other combination.
This will stimulate the broadcasters to improve their products, to attract more vouchers.

The public schools shall be financed through a similar system, and no more than e.g. 1% of the budget, given to all public schools, the rest would be converted to vouchers. The only difference to the broadcasters case above would be that the vouchers are only given to the children's parents and not all taxpayers, and as before they can only be used to pay a public school.

Good to see Natasha take up the role of Chief Minister of the NT, particularly as a second female leader since Gladys fell on her corruption sword, as we need a better balance of their voices.

On that note, also a quality interaction between Australia's most trusted politician Penny Wong and one of the few quality coalition Ministers in Marise Payne at the NPC foreign policy debate that not long finished.
