Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

People seem to think that Ciraldo is this magical coach in waiting, where in reality he's in the same position Barrett was in before he took over the Bulldogs.

I've said it before - There's been a gazillion "Cameron Ciraldos"
Remember Garth Brennan (Barely lasted a year)

The Titans and Knights coaches were the next Cameron Ciraldos - Both got better squads than us, How they doing?
Big complaint about Morris at the Sharks was they can't beat top 8 teams - Got Supercoach Fitzgibbon, How many top 8 teams they beaten this year? (Got Parra and Dragons early on) been ordinary since....

There's only so many coaches that go the distance - Maguire has proven he can go the Distance, With an ordinary roster.

I'm totally unconvinced acout Ciraldo. All you can say is he's a proven assistant coach. He's had a couple of chances to step up to head coach and refused. That's his right of course but it makes me wonder. It could be he doesn't have the confidence to take a job with a bottom 8 side or he believes he's above such a lowly position. Either way, that's a bit of a worry for me.

So you want us to get back in cap shit again that we have desperately tried to fix. We are are nearly out of that mess.
Does Mbye, Reynolds, Packer, to name a few ring a bell.
This year was always going to be a hard year for us considering our average roster.
We are in a storm and we need to ride it out.
Having money in your hand is better than not.
Someone will crop up when no one can afford them but us.
With money in our hand we are in a better position to get our pathways into better shape and to retain players like AD and JH.
If were over the cap we struggle.
I'm led to believe we have enough money to get at least 2 x 600k players for next year to replace our departing backrowers so that's our aim IMO.
Yep I agree.

As I noted on the other thread, Maguire needed to come in and be the bad guy and lead us through getting out of the cap mess. Yes he has signed this squad, but it’s not from lack of trying to buy other franchise players. We finally have cash to spend abs the systems in place to bring the juniors through. Ride it out. Make a decision at the end of this year. I think he deserves that much.

Really.... Did you read what I wrote?
I'll break it down for you....
I don't care that they do...

We can, do and have as well....
We could do what they do - But we don't....

I'm not saying it's OK, I'm saying it happens - Everyone knows it happens...
Everyone knows it's far from an even salary cap....

20+ years of whinging about it has obviously done nothing, The game has been whinging about it for the best part of 50 years.
Might be time to get with the program you think?
Maybe if we had Politis the at our club then sure. But I think it's fair to say that all clubs are not treated equally under rules of the NRL.

Yeah if you went Ciraldo you'd give a lot more scope to Sheens to ease him into it.

Never said to get in cap trouble again... you said that.
And as for Someone will crop up when no one can afford them but us, we have been saying this for years and years but nobody comes ???, our young players are along way off ...if they make it at all, whats wrong with aiming higher then where we are at the moment ... bottom half or lets wait for another 4-6 years and cross our fingers and toes.

Truthfully - I don't think there is one, and not sure the board is open to giving control over to powerful business men.
There is one - For sure.....
Harry already wanted to buy the club.

To many board members who love the notoriety, And the free lunches and game day big wiggin.

That's what it's always been about - Now that it's not about which club is at the top end of the JV.
Small part of WA business model - More like a workplace punters club for them.
(They throw a few bucks in every week) and it gives them something to do on every other Sunday.

Is what it is I guess 😉
They own the club, And we can't make them put the effort and people in place needed to make it successful.

Russell Packer 2.0 - u just know we’ll do it 😡
No way is he Russell Packer 2.0, the bloke is still young and his best years are ahead of him. He is a meter eater and a mongrel who would put the shits up some of our softies if they stepped out of line. I don't care about photos outside of hospitals, I want a dirt bag who will bash the opposition and make over 100 metres most weeks.

I reckon we are in a much better spot. The problem is we have Sheensy in charge and that guy was hopeless at managing critical situations like this that we had in the past.

Surely we are talking to the management of Kayal Iro at the Newtown Jets.

Up there with Lachlan Miller as the form player of the NSW Cup, young, junior Kiwi rep, can play Centre or 2nd Row. Would be down the pecking order at the Sharks & reportedly been offered to Super League clubs.

But no doubt we are in a holding pattern until the Board makes decisions on mid season review recommendations.

Seems like another injury prone type who doesn’t last long wherever he goes. Another Pascoe prototype

Unless the board sack themselves and the CEO it’s business as usual (losing)

No arguments from me.
Apart from those that have been incessantly baying for Macguire's blood since before he was born, after last weekend's debacle, I can understand why some people may feel that way now.
What we need to do is take a step back and breathe - although the results aren't coming, there have been definite signs of improvement this year and before the last weekend the general concensus was that.
Like many, I was just so disappointed after thinking we could win or at least give it a good crack but that doesn't mean we need to just chuck it all away now. At least, we should give Maguire until t he end of the year to see what happens. A change now is just throwing the cards up in the air yet again and that has not worked out for us in the past.
