Wests Tigers Coaches

My point was more that Payten has a MUCH stronger roster to work with.
Townsend has been a major part of the success there. Nanai, the hammer, Tuilagi, Luki, Taumololo, Hess, Holmes.
There's 8 players off the top of my head that we would kill for to be in our squad.
Madge might have had his deficiencies, and now we get to see what a new coach can do with this squad of ours.
We should see the results pretty much immediately, considering how bad Madge was ?

Not anywhere near immediately for mine, as not only are you expecting such quick results from a coach with another's squad, there is the added huge disadvantage of not having an off-season to mould change from some 4 previous ones.

I remember Teddy "left" to join Canberra, changed his mind and then later, in the face of a new extended contract with Wests Tigers, chose to leave to take up the opportunity with the Roosters.
As I said it's in the wording. I think telling a coach that he won't be renewed, when he wants a new deal, is sacking him. Like Potter.

Would't I have loved a boss like that!
Got merit resting players.
I think keepers like AD, JH and Ken should do nothing but beach sprints for a month. Ken needs to get that knee cleaned out and come back in the last few games.
Usure whats up with JH but he could do with some low impact hi endurance stuff.
I'm guessing really because apart AD, I'm not certain what these guys injuries are but I can't see the need to flog a dead horse.
Get them fitter than ever before, then come back.

Cayless is a no nonsense hardnut, I'd like us to keep him
He is and heck he seems to be.
Yet why are we still soft.
Cayless was a hard player and a hard ass at Parramatta.
Sorry champ no offence was intended, I just couldn’t remember his name at the time of my rant. I loved Dwyer as a player and was gutted when he did his injury. Hence my comments on the club not really supporting these guys. It took Brad Fitler to organise a fundraiser for him, no one at the club did! Thats what needs to change, which I believe under Pascoe is starting to happen. Also things like Tedesco having to originally having to pay for his own acl doctors. But that was ages ago and things are changing from then, but mud sticks.
Is that true. I know Simon Dwyer was offered a job for life and has been working at the club.

Yet we totally stuffed Taniela Tuiaki. Honestly this breaks my heart, I truly hope we have not treated Dwyer that poorly and if so this should be at the board level.

I hurt as a League fan all the injuries that people do get. Particularly the head knocks. Man Alzheimers is horrible.. I love the game, I get the injuries and get that they are real... but far out we have to do something and ensure that people are supported.

all about balancing the salary cap,eg,why pay top $$$ if a developing player is only a year off 1st grade etc etc
Yes yes, but it's also that balancing act within the team:
Will that reserve grader be the next DCE (as Wayne and others ignored him) Or a fizzer like half of ours).
Can we fill our 13-17 with people who want to start there.
Do we go for a few Guns (i.e. Manly, Newcastle, Melbourne, Easts) vs whole teams (Penrith, Cronulla, Raiders).

and yes, why pay top $$$ when a developing player is only a year off 1st grade. And the other developing player is already in First grade. Oh and you have another player that has played first grade when not injured. Oh and there is another Developing player who is probably a year off first grade...

So should we have hired Api Koroisau? Ofcourse!
Just how do you manage Rui, Simpkin, Liddle and Tannious I am unsure. In fairness both Liddle and Simpkin have had their shots at proving themselves at First grade. I think though once we hired Api we should have seen Liddle Or Simpkin move on by now. Instead it's Gardner and others and I truly don't understand this.

Overall though we have blocked avenue's for juniors to rise in some positions. Hence can we shut up about DEPTH! Depth=screwing over your Juniors so some first grade wannabe's get to be bench warmers.

Crazycat I think the days of serious head injuries and long term effects of concussion are very slim now with all the head assessment and concussion protocols that are in place.
If accidents do happen it is unfortunate but it is as risky as a lot of other sports like boxing basketball etc.
I applaud what the NRL are doing.
My mate Frank Farina said he gets headaches from all the heading of the ball during his playing days and he thinks it will be taken out of the game soon.

Thanks for linking this.

More excuses and raving on about accountability, which seems to apply to everyone except Lee and the board.

He throws Madge under the bus regarding recruitment and more spinning about changes.

Says we now have the money but need the people.

What he doesn’t talk about is that the board has has ten years or so to get the right people, to get the right players and he didn’t have the guts to admit to a single error.

Well listen Lee, nothing personal, but accountability means just that and if you expect to be taken seriously, youd recognise you’re tenure at the helm has been catastrophic and you should hold yourself accountable and either quit or suspend yourself and the board from making more poor decisions.

Friends and colleagues on this mighty forum, I say to you, in your hearts you know that I am right. Our once strong club is in complete tatters and is the laughing stock of the game.

You’re on notice Lee, this new coach is your last chance. If you want a result driven process, it’s time for you walk the walk.

Almost everything Lee said can be easily disproven and contradicted.

He’s invited his critics to write to him and I have a few tough questions for him.

Nothing personal, it’s just entirely insincere and disingenuous to blame Madge and the players etc when you have the ultimate say.

If they’d brought in the right people in the first place, we’d be top 4 easily by now.

yep i agree, good on Josh for putting the pod together but geez i could not listen to it, it was way way to negative and way too pro Madge. Rob on Podcast gets way too emotional and every Pod goes on and on about Pascoe how he has ruined the club it gets so boring to hear!! I am hoping this was on a line in the sand moment for the club and onwards and upwards for the Tigers!!! Yup I agree Ciraldo or Morris for me too

Might not agree with him and Shane in particular on many things, but love Rob's emotional responses. It's simply passion and a tribal reaction from someone, that at the heart of it is just another very invested footy fan.

Obviously not everybody's cup of tea, but I enjoy both the WT podcast and from my end, the increasingly less bias overall version of the WL one over recent months.

Pascoe is far from getting an easy pass mark from me, including for his part in extending Maguire and yet another unnecessary payout/fine somewhere between a half and a full million dollars as a result.

The podcast is funded by Wests Ashfield. They're not allowed to criticise their Bosses. Perhaps that disclaimer should be more widely known

And on the earlier interview, Lee said Pascoe was accountable. As if?

Ffs they should give us a break.

The club is being run by some kind of third world junta.

Only Brohman had the guts to challenge him.

When Darryl is the only one asking proper questions, you know 2gb is struggling.

That said, the 2mmm panels are much much worse.

Shout out to Darryl for his courage. He spoke for us. Lee was uncomfortable.

Couldn't help but notice that and it would indicate (to me at least that) we either have him, are in the process of finalizing terms or he has flat out rejected us.

Either way it seemed to strike a nerve and the old fox had to think for a moment about his response.

Hard to believe that Madge was shown the door without something being in place, or at the very least someone targeted as a replacement, having said that we have let a number of players go with no apparent replacements in sight, so who knows what will happen next.
I think Ciraldo is ethical, he would not be dealing in the background to undermine Madge - now the stage is set.
