Not necessarily. If the Cows say can't do, I'd wager legally if LL approached us for a release and we granted it, then LL is simply now a free agent
Agree, if the paperwork was finalized.
Do you know what paperwork is required when a contract is terminated, altered, transfered or cancelled and who deems it so?

I wonder if you could sue them ?
I'm sure that they could find many justifications for them to prepare a strong case against these hooligans,

But knowing that Lee is an expert in law and could do this very easily, i'm assuming that the reason why he hasn't done this yet is because he may be feeling that the judge would exonerate these hooligans due to their cognitive impairments.

The hooligans (Hooper,Kent,Rothfield) would be able to apply for the mental impairment for their defence and their lawyer telling the judge that they are unfit to stand trial, which is claimed under the Crimes (Mental Impairment and Unfitness to be Tried) Act 1997.

These journalists may well be some of the stupidiest people to ever have been born. It's comical.
Remember Geo saying earlier on in the year when we were complaining about the shite foxsports write when he said, "the fact that we're talking about it means we've read it, looked at it or listened to them, they've succeeded 👍

This isn't the first time we've released a contracted player mid season. Surely we're the pros in this situation having had so much prior experience!

No-one here knows the exact workings of contracts in the NRL. Does there need to be an official document confirming the mutual termination of a contract signed by both the player and a club representative? Or is a simple email and reply sufficient for written proof of the request and approval of the termination?

In any case i find it very hard to believe that whatever's required from our part wasn't completed prior to our announcement. There's no such thing as us jumping the gun. We have no idea what the arrangements are between Lucy's agent and the Cows. We upheld our part of the deal and would reasonably expect the Cows to be in the position to meet the demands of the agent for the immediate signing of the player.

If Lucy's agent and the Cows now have issues that's between them to sort out. It's possible that unexpected bonuses for players playing origin like Cotter and Nanai are tightening the cap more than they had planned. If they have to pay 250 for the remainder of Lucy's contract and don't have that space anymore either they release a player to us, or Lucy signs with the Roosters for the rest of the year, like TPJ did last year.

We must have a plan regarding a replacement player we're targetting now though as we currently only have 2 second rowers in our entire 27 man squad!

You really think so ? I'm not buying the BS about us doing anything at all wrong here but I don't think we are going to announce a mid-season signing that will help us now.

I just think they've written this season off.

We should all just ignore them. I pay for Kayo but I don't watch the rugby league shows. I don't read the DT.

It's crap.
I know but the point is, we talk about it because it's being distributed and disseminated.

All a player or agent has to do is deny the verbal agreement took place and then you have to honour it.
In a civil workplace most employment has no contract but does have performance clauses to protect against unfair dismissals.
Everything I've read so far on the forum is hearsay, we are all guessing imo.
I've read that "all contracts whether they're new or altered, are ratified by the nrl" but because I have no reference it is hearsay as well.
Personally I don't give a rats other than I dont like our club to be continually slandered.
If the club has again been caught out because of their ineptitude particularly having a law firm backing them I will be annoyed.
The more I read into this it's a storm in a tea cup and not worth losing sleep over, but I do hope our relationship with Tod Payten is not soured.
No issue at all re what you've written in this and the previous email 🙂; however, the denial the conversation never took place might not hold up if there are witnesses.
It is all hearsay and like any doing of the club none of us know what really happened. I'm only commenting on what papers have stated 'took place'.

We have a month to sign 3 players and have huge cash to do so. There aren't many players worth upgrading for next year, not to mention this year.

You're worth whatever someone is willing to pay you.
Only to the person coughing up!

He could have pushed me to 550 after a night on the booze with @stryker 69 and @Cobarcats but in my view he’s simply not worth 700.

Not when bloody Cameron Murray was getting $650 for a couple of years.

There’s a justice element to it.

If he wants 700 he’d have to spend the off season in Samoa recruiting emerging talent and come home with a conga line of beloved Tuis.

I love Lucy, but his demands were Lost in Space.

Now he’s been on Perfect Match with the cows, they’ve taken him out, fed him but are now expecting him to cop the restaurant bill.

The romance is all ending in tears lads, we told him not to go out at night in his own and he’s copping it.

Enjoy washing the dishes Lucy.

Finally someone talking sense. 👍
My take on it also has been there must be more than meets the eye when a multiyear $ contract gets changed, renewed or cancelled, more than a handshake. The NRL also has a product to preserve as well as the club and it's players welfare.
Let it ride out people.
