The balance sheet, the COE at Concord and the Campbelltown COE at the UWS are good indicators our front office is doing well. The onboarding of important staff in the Pathways Programme is also a result no doubt of the strong financial position of the Club. It's a well done from me.
1000% agree.

The front office should be:
Pathways.
Junior exhibitions/Benji Marshall going to schools, etc.
Building and development, etc.

Also:
Hey were trying to sign XXX can we get a good sponsorship deal?
Can we get work for ABC retired player?

The fact our current team sucks isn't their direct fault. they see it sucks and hired Tim Sheens to fix the mess. Look give Sheens a little time to work this out, one thing Sheens can do really well is plan out a 4 year run to the finals. Someone was talking Rugby league coaches and most coaches have been mentored by only a few people.

The fact that the COE took so LONG to build, IMHO is their fault. Construction however can be difficult.

We don't want the book-keepers making the league decisions. We want them pushing a Sheens/Gould/Brian Smith/etc type in to make the right decisions.

Tip they are paid a lot more than book keepers. And they don’t have one clue between them,

How’s the destination club Pascoe promised six years ago going? Can’t even attract a rookie coach on a 5 year deal!

Sheens has been brought in to handle football matters and advise Pascoe and the Board. Is that not a good indication the club recognised it didn't have the expertise so fixed it and able to do so because of the good financial position of the club?

They were just running out of scapegoats and didn’t have the cags to fire someone who has actually done something in RL.

I'd rather the club be in debt, rorting the cap and winning than balancing the books and sucking.
Funny how everyone breathes a sigh of relief now we are in the black.
You can thank the pensioners and drug dealers pushing their pensions and Ill gotten proceeds into the pokies for that. Not hat sales.
We wouldn’t be in debt as a winning club though. Sponsors and new members would be knocking the door down. Jersey sales through the roof. Few realise what a waste this club is.

I thought the club were independently profitable of WA.

In any case, I agree. Manly and Cronulla were always teetering on the edge of bankruptcy but they always had something to cheer about come September.

Perhaps he doesn't want the attention especially if he is with another club. I'd be surprised if the new coach wasn't in regular contact with Sheens about the roster, new players etc.
So how would you then expect new players, and I am referring to players of a quality that could make a difference to this outfit, be expected to sign on not knowing who the coach is going to be.

I suppose they could just give those prospective players a reassurance that the services of a quality coach have been secured.

I mean why wouldn't they take Pascoe's or Lee's word for it, after all they are both highly respected individuals.

I hear a lot of criticism aimed at the WT Board of Directors. But when it comes to football decisions, they surely just rubber stamp (within financial reason) what Sheens, Pascoe and the football department presents to them.

The board is made up of eight. Five of the eight are from Wests Ashfield. The chair and two others are from the Balmain side of the tracks. Given the club is doing well financially I think the board is doing a good job.

I could be totally wrong, but don’t think Julie Romero, Dennis Burgess or Simon Cook etc are talent scouting for players in their spare time. Most of the board are successful business types who are there to make sure Wests Tigers are a successful business.

When it comes to footy decisions I can see Rick Wayde (Wests) and Danny Stapleton (Balmain) having a say, but it’s going to be mostly down to what Sheens wants.

Pascoe’s role in football related decisions - I’m not sure about. It would seem that Sheens was brought in to cover Pascoe’s lack of football smarts.

But, I could be wrong ...
Was much better when Mike Bailey was on the WA and WT boards, at least when he was there you would always know which way the wind blows.
