But I have listened to him commentating etc and he seems pretty switched on , normal and you can't deny his wins at sharks. Although as I write this , sounds a bit like Madge. 🤣

I believe this is a club that needs a coach that commands respect and has the runs on the board. We have players who have no idea what winning takes and they continue to survive while we toss out coaches for their poor performances. And you wonder why players with desire treat us like the plague

You are spot on what you said in an earlier post earl about this mess is all caused by sheens, and I agree we might have to ask madge to come back because as I said im expecting a knock back from Morris and flanno

It doesn’t matter who the next coach is because we can’t get any worse. We are getting the spoon this year and that’s on Madge, not Kimmorley.

It beggars belief that people think Madge was going to turn this joint around. The best he did was finish 9th - with Ivan’s team!

Two and a half years later, with more and more his picked squad, we have since finished 11th, 13th and this year bottom.

Morris, Woolfe, Flanagan, Kimmorley or Charlie Brown cannot do any worse.

We are in a worse position now, than when we sacked Madge.
I mean, we are playing EXACTLY the same, but we don't have a first grade coach and our wunderkid choice has rejected us. We look even worse to the NRL world than we have for some years.
Since sacking Madge, all we heard about was how we needed a development coach.
Ciraldo was the answer. Nobody else was even courted.
Now, all of a sudden since being rejected by CC, development isn't a thing anymore and nearly every one of you is wanting Flanno.
I'd laugh if he also turned us down and we go back to Morris and his development attributes.
Lucky we sacked Madge. Just look at the difference !
We have no plan, no idea.
Maybe a 4 year rebuild is needed if and when we find a new coach. That should do it.

We are definitely not in worst position …. we just made a wrong very public choice and got rejected.
On the bright side …. we dodged a bullet with that guy and our recruitment crew (hopefully) learned a valuable lesson.

My opinion is that Sheens is clearly a major problem. He was the one who sacked Madge and went with the development coach line and then told everyone CC was the no 1 target.

This debacle is basically all on Sheens. They employed him to manage the football side of the business and this is the result.

We aren't in a bad position at all. We don't have a stuffed cap, we appear to be focusing on juniors and we have some decent signings coming in next season in position where we are weak.

This is a plum role for a coach and to be honest we'll get a better credentialed coach than Ciraldo. You can't guarantee the coach will be actually perform better but it's whoever we choose will be a lower risk proposition compared to Ciraldo.

Sheens is ok but this episode was all arse about.
Recruitment process should normally be based on the approach and presentation by a prospective applicant for the position. This is particularly the case when we talk about a young, inexperienced, rookie like CC.
But this episode was definitely the tail wagging the dog and the outcome is a poor reflection on our recruitment team.

Sheens has made this debacle. How is he alright ?

It's like people can't remember when he was here. He was incompetent. To be fair he somehow cobbled together a top team and got them playing sensational footy in 05. He also plucked Ellis as a recruit who was an all time player. Sheens could also coach in that the team came up with tactics to win games.

He also oversaw our turn from a good team to the bottom of the ladder via poor signings (Adam Blair) and hail mary plays (John Morris as our Cooper Cronk).

I'm completely optimistic about our future but Sheens is what you call a key person risk. He is a key person and he appears incompetent.

I'm optimistic because if we just get a couple of decent players in and some juniors come through who are quality we can make the top 8 next year. I think a 3-5 year plan is hilarious.

We'll get a good coach. The issue will be the cattle and specifically Sheens betting the house on an average player or players to be marquee talent and paying them as such.

Wasn't/Isn't he employed at the Dragons in some capacity?

And yes, winning is generally what you are aiming for in a competition.

Mate there is people on here who keep harping on about Flanno and his dark past while coaching the Sharks....however,the guy knows football,has experience at NRL level and would be just what we need as a hard taskmaster...having said that,I dont approve of using peptides or any other form of enhancement drugs in sport....If Flanno has learnt his lesson and shows he has reformed,why cant he get a second chance at coaching in the NRL...he has paid the penalty and done his time,after all we sacked Sheens,he sued us and now he is back in a leading role...I know its different circumstances,but surely as human beings we can afford to give the guy the chance to show he can be a very good coach and that he has reformed...
So many people go through life,spend time in prison for criminal activities,but come out and become better people..
I know a guy who spent time in prison for armed robbery,he came out,put himself into a course at tech and now works as a chef in a major chain of hotels...he also volunteers on his day off at a kitchen for the homeless...
So people can change,my example is a simple one,but it can happen to anyone that has the want to do better...would Flanno,I dont know,but he still seems respected in the media and other circles...
