Wests Tigers Coaches

Err.... My name is at the top of my post.

That said I think there could be plenty better options for him in the not too distant future
Roosters... No guarantee of the 8 this year and we know how ruthless pappas is

Raiders... Sticky been there a long time talk of him moving possibly

Souths.. Demetriou would be under pressure given their form

Parra.. BA under immense pressure their window closing soon he needs a premiership this year

Storm... Bellamy moving on

Plenty for him if he's patient
They are all big if's.

There can be no argument that getting a gig at a well-established club is more difficult - there are simply less roles available, and less often. Also if you are a rookie, you would likely be up against more experienced and qualified coaches.

Then there's the question of the scale of expectations. Take your Souths example. Assume you are right and Demetriou is under pressure for not achieving their targets, for example assume Souths' target is minimum Top 4 after achieving the GF in 2021. Assume Demetriou fails, which means bottom of 8 or worse.

If Demetriou were to be dumped and Ciraldo were to be the next Souths coach, he would presumably be expected to get the club back to Top 4, i.e. not repeat the results of Demetriou. That becomes exponentially more difficult to achieve, especially for a rookie coach. John Morris is a prime example of this - 100% finals record at Sharks and still not retained.

By contrast, Tigers or Warriors or Bulldogs would simply be happy making the Top 8 for a few years.

Another of your examples in the Storm: I could understand it would be an enticing role when Bellamy eventually retires. But any applicant would have to be aware of the extreme pressure on even the first-year results. Storm are used to playing in Grand Finals every year or two; they won't cop 7ths or 8ths. Maybe someone like Ciraldo could keep Bellamy's systems successfully, or maybe Bellamy is irreplaceable and the wheels fall off once he leaves. Brad Fittler is an example of this - took over a generally successful Roosters system (9 finals in 12 seasons), got them to the semis in his first full year, got the spoon the next year - and hasn't had a head coach club gig for more than a decade since.

It's pretty well known in coaching circles that Ciraldo was put off by how Lee spoke to Rob Bechara via text message. Thought it was incredibly unprofessional and gave him second thoughts about signing here (word is he had a verbal agreement, just nutting out the details). Lee once again puts his foot in his mouth.
I’m surprised we didn’t get a public statement or members letter addressing the comments of the chairman. May have been a Freudian slip but he has set offside a lot of Wests Tigers fans and even paid members. But no radio silence on that regard. And even his mouth piece SEN has backed his comments to the hilt. How does he run a business?

My grandfather played first grade for the tigers, I have been a life time supporter by birth… there’s not a chance in hell I will encourage my child to support the tigers, this club is a joke from front to back and the most armature in the league, that clown of a CEO really has to ask him self some serious questions as he’s clearly a massive part of the armature problems we are experiencing if they can’t land a decent coach they may as well pack it up and head to Perth, and put us out of our mystery.

Think what you like. Either way, his approach was rebuffed.
Our clubs amateur hour we should spin rubbish to the media like Gus does would have much rathered we kept negotiations in house instead of the all to familiar we thought we had him release. Should of just gone about our business and been professional.

Because he isn’t a first grade coach. At Origin level it’s about man management. Not to mention he’s really only the figurehead for the rest of the old boy coaching staff they have. Very different to the week to week grind of NRL.
Coaching week in week out is all about man management.
Supercoach Craig Bellamy stated in an interview that Slater has a great rugby league mind and would one day make a great coach....go figure.

Benji Marshall believes the Tigers need to move on quickly and install the best credentialed coach to turn the club around for long suffering fans after missing out on their prime candidate.

“It is obviously a bit disappointing they didn’t get Cameron,” Marshall said on Fox League.
“I know they invested heavily in him as their first choice, especially offering him a five year deal.
“I think that showed how much they really wanted him, which is a little bit sad.

“But there is a lot of good coaches still out there. What they need to do is shift there attention to whoever it is that is next because they did speak about wanting someone who is good at developing young players, which they identified Cameron as.

“There is guys out there who have done it before. Shane Flanagan has got a mention. John Morris. They were even talking about Todd Payten, but he is on contract with the Cowboys, so I don’t know how that is going to work.
“But whatever it is it needs to be an investment that is going to turn the club around because I think the fans and everyone who has supported the club are a little bit fed up with the way it has been going in terms of results and want a bit of a change.

“The next coach has to be that guy to do it otherwise we could be looking at a long time before the club turns around again.”

“From what I gathered about the way they pitched to Cameron Ciraldo, there is a lot of money coming into the salary cap, so whoever does come in next is going to get an opportunity to create the roster they want,” Marshall said.

“There is going to be no excuses around the roster being a problem for whoever it is that does take that position.

“Part of my role at the Tigers now is coaching the juniors and what I’ve seen coming through, there is a lot of success at Wests and Balmain of kids that have got a lot of potential and talent.

“Our job at the club is to be able to keep those kids. So the next coach has to be vital in terms of contracting players and being able to nurture those kids to the next level because home grown talent is where it’s at.”

Do you support performance enhancing drugs being used on players to win? I'd imagine the answer is no. So why even suggest Flanagan. Are his "wins" not subject to classification?
Do you support cap cheating to hoard the best talent in the game? You made a broad statement, I answered.

No I don't support PEDs. Do you honestly think he would do it again? Any Flanagan coached club will have routine doping testing done for sure.

It seems no one at the Wests Tigers is familiar with the phrase "no comment."

Jason Taylor had a similar background to John Morris before joining WT. Rumours around Taylor not getting on with players before joining. There are rumours about Morris not being able to attract talent.

If he couldn’t attract talent at Cronulla, god help him attracting talent here.
$$ TALKS.

This is it.

It's almost a dream job for anyone wanted to make something their own.

Despite how much of a rabble we may appear.
There is so much room for a coach to grow whilst building something incredibly special.

If that's true, and there's no reason to believe it is, but if it's true, it shows Ciraldo is as much of a mug as Lee H is.

Who goes around turning-down half-million dollar or more per season head coach offers because the chairperson sent a dumb text message to some mug punter? That's the issue that changed Ciraldo from a "yay" to a "nay", not the decade of bad results and succession of failed coaches?

It's either complete baloney or proof that Ciraldo is himself a goose.

For any rational organisation, this would be the final straw that would lead to the board’s sacking and a mass clean out from the top.

Knowing the Tigers though, we’ll probably sign Trent Barrett or some shit and the board will give themselves raises and a pat on the back.

Inept organisation.
The Board is self-appointed - why would they sack themselves? You confuse Wests Tigers Board with a listed company that must answer to share holders.

Enjoy reading this and other threads but us WT fans need to take a big breath and let it pan out. I am not that worried about not signing Ciraldo to be honest. He is an assistant coach at the strongest club in the NRL over the last 5 years and is untested in the NRL environment and has been living under a juggernaut mushroom called the Panthers where the biggest challenge he has had is where to get his morning coffee from. There is a distinct possibility that he would crash and burn without the talent he has to work with at the Panthers. For mine, we should have stuck with Madge but that bridge has passed. Move on and go through a selection process and select the best coach to take us forward.

I hated Flannagan with a passion but I want results and the only way forward to achieve that is with a roster - I know already he can coach. I think he is the only one available that could draw some quality to a club that consistently can't. Sheens needs to pack away the ego and development coach stuff or bloody take it on himself.
Well said

The way we handled this situation was astounding in it's stupidity. We are a awesome club to come too right now.
