I have no knowledge of the mechanics behind our Admin offering a 5 year contract to a potential coach.
But it appears to me that we were being proactive:
(1) identifying the coach to fit our needs
(2) to entice the preferred coach, and
(3) to ensure stability in our club - which has been so lacking over the past decade and which in turn would have removed any instability perception.

All in all, something in this process is a massive positive, not foolhardy as the critics suggest.

Why on earth would Payten want to leave NQ with what he has to work with up there. And now it seems Seibold has entered the picture. Whomever we hire it's got to happen soon before we start losing the few good players we have and missing out on signings for 2023 and beyond; already hard with the Dolphins still putting their roster together.

I don't go with the stability stuff. We've had one board,CEO for 6 years and coach for 4 years.

He’s a gun.

Set up to fail at Brisbane, he was white anted all the way, as he was a captains pick.

He would turn the struggling pathways into a club super highway.

Almost always got his rotations right at Souths and as AD says, very popular with players.

Seibold is probably my pick too. Big risk with what happened at Broncos, but he was rated so highly at the time Broncos gave him a 5 year contract.

I suggest we don’t offer him more than 3 years but now we’ve offered Ciraldo 5 we’re in a difficult position.

Souths players hated Siebold just as much as the Broncos did. Dave Furner was the coach the Bunnies wanted but Siebold shipped him off to the UK. Maybe it's Furner we should be chasing.

Madge's Assistant Coach was also a High School Teacher and did very well with Our KOE side last year.
Could be a good combo.

Isn’t he the defense coach for England under Eddie Jones? No way his contract ends just before the World Cup in 2023. Not disbelieving you, Ra Ra teams usually work in 4-year cup cycles. Imagine if the defense coach moved teams months before a world cup. Scandelous!

Whatever we do now we’ll be getting a coach with a much less credentialed coach than Madge. Although that was the reality before Ciraldo knocking us back.

This feels like letting Mitch Moses go and replacing him with Josh Reynolds, or letting Tedesco go and replacing him with Lolohea.

I would be interviewing Siebolt Morris and Wolfe and giving all three a chance to describe there vision for the club and explain there plans for Hastings doughi and brooks and pick the best 1 out of the bunch

Penrith Panthers boss Brian Fletcher has booked lunch with Cameron Ciraldo’s manager, George Mimis, for Thursday this week.

They are expected to agree on a one-year extension for Ciraldo to remain with the premiers as Ivan Cleary’s assistant and defence coach.

It follows Ciraldo’s decision to reject a big-money five-year offer from the Wests Tigers over the weekend.

There will be other opportunities for Ciraldo this time next year for 2024, including Melbourne Storm. There could also be Newcastle and St George-Illawarra.

This guy is a carbon copy of Cronulla Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon in that he is prepared to be patient and wait for the right opportunity at the right time.

Not that good jobs come up all that often.

The successful clubs higher up the ladder usually stick by the staff they already have.

Wests Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis spoke highly of Ciraldo.

“Cameron rang himself on Saturday evening and was very professional and very courteous,” he said, “He was complimentary of the club but felt the timing wasn’t right.”

But where to now for the Wests Tigers?

“Tim Sheens will look at all other options and make a recommendation to the board,” Hagipantelis said, “There are still some impressive people out there who are showing interest.”

We are now hearing the names of Shane Flanagan and John Morris as the most likely candidates.

Morris has Wests Tigers DNA. He played 72 games for the club between 2007 and 2010.

He was a 300-game player and in coaching he made the top eight at Cronulla two years in a row.

And then Flanagan.

He built the Cronulla Sharks from rock bottom to win the 2016 premiership.

He is a proven development coach that Tim Sheens says he is looking for.

At some stage he needs to be judged on his coaching record, not the mistakes he has made and been punished harshly for.
