Wests Tigers Coaches

To me the coach is not the most important need. What is lacking at the tigers is a decent roster ,good cap management ,No ridiculous contracts
New admin etc ,Our roster sucks as does the Admin.
Most candidates know how to coach but who gets the harmony and effort in the dressing shed and on field is who I would go for . On that basis I think Johnny Morris as good as any
But Sheensey some more big signings urgent

Speaking of pairings, how come the walker brothers haven't been mentioned? Their name is always chucked around when there is a coaching gig up for grabs. Short kick-offs for the win.

Ive wondered about that. He was apparently given a look at everything? I assume player contracts, employee files, any existing systems, future planning, maybe last few years P&L? there may be nothing in any of that which made him change his mind, other than us being perhaps 10 years behind Penrith. I cant seem to stop thinking about how we missed out on Foxx with that HoA stuff.
Penrith said Ciraldo can have anything he wants in his contract.
Gees I nearly fell of my chair @twentyforty
@Buttface had suggested LH was flashing his pecker 😆 then @BAGNF05 said "it's a small pecker too" 😱 then your 1st words were "I've wondered about that" 🤣🤣🤣

The reason tigers offered a 5 year contract is money. Coaching has a salary cap. You can't pay someone $2M a season to coach. But you can spread it across more years. I.e. you can't offer a $5M 2 year contract, but you can offer $5M 5 years.

Therefore, you offer a coach a 5yr contract to guarantee them money in case they get sacked later on. It's a bargaining chip.
lol.

The following article makes for interesting reading....

Say whatever you like about the Tigers (and they do seem to get plenty wrong), they never got to the position the Panthers found themselves in.

For what its worth a mate I have who runs Pubs tells me that Arthur Laundy and Phil Gould aren't seeing eye to eye. Arthur was Balmain through and through....

Love the bit about about Cleary and Gould committed for the long term, nek minut, Cleary gets sacked by Gus

Like a lot of other players i guess.
Where is the substantial evidence of the fallout from the alleged drug use?
Everyone's served their time.
There isn’t any documented evidence that I’m aware of…
However - it was dragging on, common sense says no one is going to sign someone who’s about to get a drugs suspension - then they finally got suspended and served the suspensions.
Roster spots come and go…

Common sense tells me, as it would led you - that incident had an effect on some careers

What we really need is an independent EXTERNAL review of the whole club and its current structure but unfortunately that will never happen because the board are not likely to want an independent review of their role in making the club a failure. As long as the board can sacrifice the odd pawn every now and again and remain untouchable they will be happy even if the clubs supporters are not.
Remember when Brian Smith did just that.
All reviews by their intent should have beneficial action taken to improve the club.
Looking back I can't see any benefits of Mr Smith's review as an example.

Do you know if those contracts can have performance incentives?
Performance incentives as in rewards? Don't know much about those things.
My understanding of a contract condition is that it can stipulate that the coach has to go to training wearing nothing but his budgy smugglers, as long as all parties sign off on it it's good to go.
I doubt that any coach would sign a contract stipulating he has to get them into the finals by a certain term. Could be something like points differential or a position on the ladder by a certain round....like what they did to Madge.
Options are the go these days.

Of course it did.
My whole entire argument is that Flanno is allowed to coach in the nrl. He has served his time regardless of whether people like him or not.
Anyone would think I've been giving him reacharounds in the COE carpark the way they're carrying on.
I believe he is entitled to another shot. *pun intended @king_sirro 😉

Magpies, here's the full exchange. Don't let the truth get in the way of your fantasies. It seems you have edited what was posted. Mmmm.
