Wests Tigers Coaches

I never gave us a chance yesturday we were up against the warriors team playing there first home game in 3 years infront of a sold out crowd of kiwis in the piss having a huge party there defence would have stopped most teams it was a very spirited game from them we had No chance from the get go
Well, the script was writ and the ref was clearly unconsciously biased. But I blame Madge for having coached the Kiwis to their recent Test victory which surely inspired the Worriers.

I would punt sheens as well he has not done one thing to improve this club , NRL squad with no coach that is struggling I can’t fathom , Flanno First up Monday please and ditch that stupid development crap , br8ng the young guys through but hay poach as many Top liner as we can other do it
It took Gould 5 years at the pandas. Into his first year at the dogs, 4 to go.
Sheens hasn’t ever clocked 1 year yet. 2 good signings and the guts to punt Madge. He answers to the board with recommendation. They have the final say, then they decide in the same manner as the Alinta commercial with the Aussie cricketers.

Sheens had nothing to do with Appi and Papi coming over , he has done zero for the club except punt Madge , time will tell if this Sheens stuff will work I’m not confident as we can’t even appoint a new coach , these coaches would jump at the chance to take this on it’s not them holding it up it’s the club , you can’t tell me if Flanno was offered a 3 year deal to turn this lot around and also bring in our young guys he would say no , he would chain himself to the chair

I have a problem with looking for a 'development' coach. Essentially, NRL coaches need to win games, you give them a year or two grace but they have to fashion a winning team out of what they have. If that's developing youngsters and playing them in first grade then that's good if it leads to winning, but if the youngsters are no good you need to find another way to win. So you hire a coach to win and if they're not they get sacked.

So what sort of criteria is the search for a development coach going to lead to? To me, you want coaches involved in development and bringing youngsters in, but that job is primarily for someone else.

I think Sheens should be in charge of development, working in coordination with the coach. Sheens does know good players. I think the coach should be in charge of winning, or with strategies to get us winning in a year or two. long term plans don't work because no one is patient enough to see it out. With Madge, it always felt like 2023 was going to be the year we judge him, and we never got there. He was patient and has quietly developed quite a young base squad with salary cap room to move, but he gets sacked before getting the benefit of it.

Maybe he was a part of the problem, but I deeply regret the club not giving him a chance to at least coach with some talent next year.

So no to a development coach, get one who wins.

Great point. Their love child, pamfers with six, funny stuff! Can u send this list to NRL360? Send it to Braith, buzzard, Reid. This is what I have been talking about in regards to media bias! Take note Gallagher!!
Why watch it then? Your the fool giving them ratings, feeding them. They live for you.

Madge and the club signed API and Papi sheens was not involved with them coming over the deals were done before Sheens was involved , and we haven’t landed anyone since he has been involved to my knowledge
Madge tried with Tpj Mitchell Osaka JAC and even passed up a swap for Brooks/Pearce and countless others he failed to land. Player’s left because of the coach. Matterson momo and so on. The only half decent signing was Luc and he left,Tualagi aloia garner good bye . Thought Woods wasnt a good idea for a return. Signed Hastings gildart and peachey. And you think Madge made the signings possible.

Hartigan and Maguire at odds over recruitment. Api and Papalii both signed when Hartigan left.

this Anthony Barnes link is interesting. responsible for the progression of a stack of Roosters first graders and obviously understands what is required to develop youngsters to play first grade at an elite level.

while I'd prefer Morris simply down to NRL experience it's a very interesting call and one I'd be happy with if it's the way Sheens opted to go.
Not sure what Barnes is doing, his record speaks for itself. He’s coached the Chooks U20 side to 3 premierships out of 5. A similar success story like Barrett and Ciraldo etc.
Show me the guy who can make a champion team out of something other than a team of champions.

It’s for this reason that I think the club will stick with Noddy. He can easily be moved back to head of pathways.
