Wests Tigers Coaches

Oh no one has to take my word for it. Just look at your posts. Tell us all again why it was Matt Lodges fault that we didn’t reach the finals while he was a rookie?

Nah. I tend to fight fire with even more fire but you’re not worth the minimal amount of effort it would take
Plenty of effort went into that post.
You know that is not why I don’t want Lodge here but that doesn’t suit your BS.
Or did you not u n d e r s t a n d ? It was a big word so I thought I would sound it out for you. Anyway enjoy yourself.

absolutely. it was the reason we were in a holding pattern until 2010 when Lui reared his head. Mat Head was a decent 7 but I think there was issues between him and Sheens iirc. if we left Marshall at 6 and found a decent 7 to sit beside him I think we win another premiership. that side from 2007-09 could beat anyone on their day and the results show that.
Lui was a great pairing with Benji. Actually think we were better side 2010/11 than in 05.

back on topic, we really need to sort out the coach sooner rather than later. I understand the club head hunted their ideal candidate as opposed to doing the usual process, but if there's a stack of players potentially looking to put pen to paper with the club depending on the coach that will improve our roster we need to get to it.

Morris for mine is still the outstanding candidate. played at the club, has experience in coaching NRL, constructed the bones of Cronulla's system and blooded and developed a stack of youngsters.

Of course not but what does it matter. I just finished watching "Winning Time" which is about the Lakers winning the title.

The guy who owned it and was right across a bunch of decisions was just a businessman. His daughter is still the boss of the Lakers.

I am pretty sure the Golden State Warriors were only successful via big money coming into the club and then good decisions being made.

We need money coming into the club. If we can get someone with bigger pockets than Lee I'm all for it.

As someone who is a longtime NBA and Lakers fan, there is no comparison between a clown like Lee to Jerry Buss, one of the greatest owners in sports history. Buss knew when to take a backseat to people who clearly knew more than him basketball wise (Jerry West) and when to step in (free agent pitches for Shaq). And while there was a change in ownership, Golden States always had money but that didn't stop them being in the wilderness for decades. What made them largely successful was drafting the two greatest shooters in basketball history in addition to being an attractive free agent destination. And also Jerry West being there coincidentally enough.

Lee clearly loves the sound of his own voice and being the centre of attention, hence that embarrassing stunt with Tommy Raudonikis' jersey and his need to spout off about player negotiations which often leaves us looking like fools.

Not really. Just because you have trouble forming basic sentences doesn't mean that applies to everyone.
I know, you think your personal experiences should dictate who the club signs, hence the label sanctimonious douche although I think arrogant should also be in there somewhere.
Doesn't change the fact that you tried to make the case that it was Lodges fault that we didn't make the finals while he was here as a rookie. Own it.

Logged on to see 6 pages of rubbish.
Any actual news on the coach situation as this is what this tread is suppose to be about 🤔
This is what happens when.the club is in a holding pattern. Nothing to play for this season all signings on hold and no coach while they figure out where the leak is coming from (just made that last bit up) All we got is nostalgia and anger all rolled into one

Do you like the chances of a massive improvement ? I don't. I hope I'm wrong.
If Madge was the problem, then as soon as Madge is gone you would have to see some slight, yet discernible change.
Then further incremental improvement each game played with someone else in charge.
We've seen SFA, my friend.
Right now, the argument is " It's only been 3 weeks. We need more time to turn around 3.5 years of failure"
In 5 weeks time, the argument will be " It's only been 8 weeks. We need more time to turn around 3.5 years of failure"

I think the biggest mistake Sheens made was try and turn Benji into a halfback...he was always a dynamite 5/8 ...we should have developed or bought a deadset halfback to compliment Benji long term....

Agreed and then Sheens wasted years trying to turn Morris into a half back, failing miserably.Sheens was like a World War 1 general who never learnt that walking into machine guns was a poor idea.It took Buckets O'Neil talking Gareth Ellis into joining us and the arrival of Lui to turn things around imho

I have said it before, blame Madge, the footy department, ladies in the canteen, hell throw in the ballboys....until we look further within the club at the top, then this circus will never end...

This is what Im talking about with Sheens, yes he did well by winning a premiership with a fair bit of talent...these days you develop and coach players to their particular skills, position and ability..
In other words why try and make say eg Paps into a second rower when he clearly has speed and is a brilliant fullback(only an example)...

When comparing NBA's approaches to the team building, I prefer GSW style - building the team primarily through the draft (perhaps the NRL equivalent would be the Storm or Panthers), instead of buying the premiership like the teams associated with LeWoke James (the NRL equivalents Rorters, Souths).

There plenty of others....
Don't worry.

Like all coaches, They get carried away with their own reality.
The older they get, The longer they get away with it - The worse they get.

Make no mistake - He coached All stars last year, And was Coaching superleague the year before.
If hew gets an opening, He'll take it!!
Nothing more would float the ego....

To me . . . and I might be wrong . . . it's the culture, then the roster.
"The Culture" is a wide-reaching and intangible concept. To change the culture isn't a single step process. It starts at the top and permeates down from there.
We need to change the top, and basically re-wire the whole organisation. It's a massive process.
How the average Joe see's us. How an NRL fan see's us. How players see us. What they see as right and wrong with us.
Unity of players, coach and management. Players committing to each other on field. Looking at what successful clubs like the rorters do, and aiming to be like them.
But unfortunately we don't do anything different. Same irrelevant board. Same CEO. Same routine of changing coaches, then re-builds.
And somehow . . . for some reason . . . we think we'll get a different outcome. This time.
Once we've changed the culture, the roster will pretty much take care of itself.
I hope !
Oh, and did any of you really think anything would change after Madge was evicted ? Really ?
