Wests Tigers Coaches

I’m Starting to come round a bit with this new direction we are going
Benji quitting those jobs is a real big call as he could have kept going until November and raked in the funds but he has quit to focus on tigers , diving in and starting where we are poor and that’s getting players to this club , Farrah all in I’m also happy with , Scott Prince I would welcome back as he was a very good player and may assist the half’s , we already have Brett but unfortunately they have not improved , Brooks was very good under Cleary so Prince may just help , Sheens for 2 years also is enough time as he may start to get sick of the grind so short stint may pay off , anything positive for the tigers I’m happy , I also note some of the grubs like Kent and Anastasia are starting to go easy on us , we were 86 to 1 in 05 maybe they have a gut feeling changes are positive

That gut feeling may have been from the food and wine.
So, what many people are now saying is, now we have a development coach we can start buying in 100 gamers? Bennett has found the going tough to get a top class start up roster, but he's done ok imo.
I thought Madge did well with what he had and developed. These are the players who had their NRL debut under Maguire..
Mikaele
Clark
Talau
Seyfarth
McIntyre
Hoffman
Blore
Kepaoa
Simpkin
Cini
Madden
Tupou
Tuilagi
Simpkins
Pauga

You could probably include after having very little NRL game time at their previous clubs..
Utoikamanu
Laurie
To'a

More recent Debut players under Noddy..
Pole
Dias
Matamua

Just saying, hope we continue developing our juniors at this rate and not get too fixated on filling the cap with 100+ gamers.

The one thing I don't want to see is us go all in on sub top tier players and screw our cap. Then when some juniors or players we develop come on and want increases we can't give them increases and they go elsewhere.

We should be very careful getting into bidding wars for players especially when they want longer term contracts.

We've signed IP and Api without any noise and not on marquee dollars. I don't think either player is worth marquee dollars but we've been able to offer them more than their current clubs were willing to offer when we were bidding for their services.

Melbourne win competitions via paying marquee dollars to a few select players that they have developed.

I don't want the Turd or Moses back at this club because we would be paying top dollar for guys that screwed us in the past. I'd rather use that money on other players that come up and they will come up.

Suallii and Manu are two guys I would spend marquee dollars on and play them at fullback.

Furner set for Tigers switch

David Furner is expected to join the Tigers coaching staff next season as an experienced hand to help guide rookie mentors Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah.

Furner is a long-term prodigy of Tim Sheens, with Sheens coaching Furner as part of Canberra’s 1994 premiership-winning team. Furner went on to coach the Raiders and was Sheens’ assistant for a number of years when Sheens took control of the Kangaroos.

Furner is vastly experienced. He has bounced around a host of clubs in an assistant role in recent years including the Cowboys and South Sydney.

He has been Canterbury’s attacking coach in recent years but will become a senior assistant and work alongside the Sheens-Marshall-Farah trifecta next year.

While Marshall and Farah’s returns have naturally generated headlines another premiership winner has quietly been a constant in and around the group in recent weeks.

Chris Heighington has been quietly become a familiar face at Tigers training, lending a hand in an informal role. It remains unclear what that means for current Tigers assistants Nathan Cayless and Ben Gardiner. (DT)
