Isaiah Papali’i #265

i went on the Eels forum after their loss last night. There was a lot of negativity regarding the coach and a number of players including Sivo, Blake, Gutherson, the other second rower- can't remember his name, Jake Arthur and even Moses. Parra are losing a number of players as welI. Their premiership window is closing. The Tigers have been rock bottom, but there is every chance now that forward momentum will commence in 2023. Hopefully Isaiah can see that.

I saw an article and Jakob Arthur got booed from the crowed when he came on

Was talking to some Parra supporters last night, they tend to think his manager has him angling for a pay rise from us. He can use his new parra offer to get a higher wage from us.
These player managers need a wake up call...
I bet if his form was down and Tigers approached him and said mate we want to bring your salary down due to this they would get lawyers involved...

You signed a contact how about sticking to it..

Have we hit rock bottom?

Lote, Ellis, and Blair are others. I'd even class O'Hara and Payten as marquees.
Sheens' recruitment plan was to sign at least one marquee per year.

Lote, Ellis and Blair?
- Original comment included "From another Club" Payten was nobody before he was here
- Was a Bench player in 05.
O'Hara - My goodness, The man spent most of his time in Ressies, Garbage in Firsts and not wanted by a rubbish Raiders.
Lote was sacked from Rugby - Ellis was unknown and from the UK

- And what about Blair was Marquee once he was outside Melbourne?
Blair is your only maybe
- Who was rated for a few years at Melbourne and then went onto playing ordinarily for another 10 years.... The Majority of his career
Hardly Marquee

Blair was a supposedly marque signing at the time, but he was just overrated. I remember taking a particular interest in every game he played as soon as there was talk about us signing him. Both me and my uncle were of the same opinion a good player but overrated. Beginning of the end for Tim at the time.

Agree.... I watched him from the time we were rumoured to be talking to him as well...
Before then, I'd never noticed him - Didn't take much watching to work out why.

Will only ever be remembered for dog shots on halves and a fight at Manly one night.

Lote was the most speculated, anticipated, and discussed signing in the Club's history. Over 2500 comments on this very forum about it.
Ellis was the best forward in England at the time.
Blair was the best NZ forward at the time.

I’m not sure why all of a sudden our future is looking so bright. Was only 2 weeks ago rookie coaches were brushing us. There was probably one or two more who turned us down as well. Suddenly we’re on the up without doing anything. Shows what a good publicity stunt pulled off at the right time will do to people.
This is the reason magicians are rich.

  • Haha
Reactions: BZN
Blair was a good forward at the time and NZ second row international
Ellis was a Pommy second row international and at the time best forward in super league
Lote was a good signing created excitement
Sheens had some shockers but at the tine they were good signings
I agree they were good signings and players at the time but only Blair really fitted that marquee signing. But the others turned out to be better signings.
Still singing Munster v MBye or Blair v SBW, I know who’s marquee.

Can I please ask you an honest question how do you still follow this club been such a realist? Without hope we have nothing so hope is all we have so how do you continue to follow this club without any hope for the future? I’m not having a go at your just asking an honest question

As I said - Blair was the only 1 signed from another club...
Ellis was somewhat unknown from UK, And Lote had been sacked from Rugby...

Either way - That's 3 "name" signings in 10 Years....
All after we'd won a comp.
Back to the original point - Hardly worth bragging about.

Parra can't give him a new contract when the contract lodged by us has been accepted by the NRL. Though I do agree his manager is using our vulnerability and paranoia against us in the chance he can get something extra from us.
The way he's playing I don't mind giving him an extra 50k.

But rather them sick to our guns. If he plays well the first 12 rounds then they can discuss more

It's BS all this talk about him not being here he has signed a contract and it's been lodged with the NRL the Tiger's took the risk it look as if they paid overs for him then and he took the money and looking like unders now he could have backed himself to get more but did not and took the great Tiger's offer ....

The Tiger's have let go of 3 forward's in the same position after they landed him

Sheenius is a tough Nut he is not going anywhere anytime soon
