Annesley comfortable with challenge, not penalty following

A lot on here give it to Lee H but I just listening to his interview on 2GB and it just made me feel proud that someone at the club has had enough and sticking up for us fans.... He is taking this as far as he can and sounds like he is very confident..
TBH I don't care about the points but more the principal

I mean, there's still a lot to question there.

Didn't really get an answer on the time... whos the timekeeper's boss? Whens their presser?

I heard that interview . Lee H really stood up and is determined to take the challenge all the way on behalf of fans and supporters

I tuned in for that interview on 2GB on the net and heard what Lee said.

As good as his intentions may be, I'll believe it when I see the legal challenge go ahead, but I am mostly interested in what he aims to achieve out of it. . . . . . . . .what outcome does he expect?

I really don't expect too much out of it because I have heard him come out with various threats in the past that have amounted to nothing.

I suppose if some high profile people from the club, the media and other clubs can keep making noises then maybe the rage can continue for a bit longer and at least make the NRL hierarchy squirm for as long as possible.

Annesley's explanation is absolute garbage. It sounds like he was making it up as he goes.

He also never said that it was the "correct call", but that he is "comfortable with it" and that "it's not black and white."

The NRL's rules clearly state that only a referee's decision that results in a structured restart of play can be challenged. He didn't make a decision that resulted in a structured restart of play.

It's written in bold in the laws of the game
"2. A challenge is only permissible in instances where the referee makes a decision that results in the match recommencing with a structured restart"

"“The rules around a captain’s challenge allow for a challenge of any decision made by a referee to stop a game,” Annesley said." This is a flat out lie and a direct contradiction of the written laws of the NRL. The laws of the game clearly state that a challenge is only permissible where a referee makes a decision that results in the match recommencing with a structured restart.

The referee had made no decision that had resulted in a structured restart. Therefore a challenge is not permissible.

And what decision did the ref make which caused him to blow the whistle once to stop the game? He didn't make any decisions at all. He blew the whistle once to stop the game, for reasons unknown.

He’s full o shit
Nothing will eventuate
Pascoe and himself will accept an apology and a coles gift card
Soft cocks United

I'm going to call this mess 'TigerGate'.

Hopefully it changes how the referees do their job and the bunker operates in the future, if at all.

If Klein's neck isn't on the block, I'll give my left nut.

They're saying that as they know it would be a straight win (legal action) if they say otherwise

Graham Annesley says he is comfortable with the North Queensland Cowboys being able to challenge the contact on Kyle Feldt but not with the outcome of the decision

Don't give a shit about him being comfortable with it.

I do though give a shit about it being the only time a team has been able to challenge a decision when there was no stoppage in play, and costing WT a win after the game had finished.

How is this possible if we were the ones penalised then we should have been able to challenge

In April this year, after the Titans v Eels game............Annesley said

The NRL does not want the game to become like NFL, with constant stoppages to review each play, and the captain’s challenge is only permitted to contest a decision by the referee. They include:

  • Offside - kick chase
  • Re-start infringements
  • Stealing the ball
  • Foul play
  • Obstruction
  • Mid-air tackle
Incidents not detected by the match officials can't be challenged if there is no stoppage and players cannot deliberately force play to stop so they can call for a captain's challenge.
