Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If things that are conveyed to players don't come to fruition or go against their culture or beliefs they have every right to do what they can to get out of deals and as has been mentioned no contract has been signed bad luck to Manly as the old saying goes "YOU SNOOZE YOU LOOSE" and after all it's only Manly😂😂😂
Remind me not to sign a contract with you.

SEN (Bishop/Vossey) saying Kelna Tuilagi wants to get out of deal with Manly 🤞🤞🤞🤟
Very interesting. If we get the Kelma of the last 2 weeks....I am happy.

The lack of formal announcement from Manly tells me it hasn't yet been registered/formalised.

If it was fully signed, sealed and delivered then he should honour the contract similiar to Papali'i.

I hope they paid credit to @Cobarcats for the exclusive!

Hope Manly hold firm, not because I don't rate Kelma but because it's the wrong thing to do. I'm sick of players (grown men) not wanting to honour contracts they signed without coercion.
If he doesn't have a registered contract with them and only a handshake agreement then what's there to honour

If you watch the Madden try scored off the Kelma break, you will see it all began with the quick stepping run and quick play the ball from Pole. He is a super talent and hopefully we will be upgrading and extending him.
Spotted this too. Looking forward to Api scheming off some quick play the balls from Pole in 2023!

Not so much if Tim is wanting to extend Brooks on a reduced contract
Well exactly for that reason.

If Brooks is on a reported 1.1 next year (I don't believe), but is being offered 2.3 for the next three inclusive of next year, it drops to 766k a year.

Then, if you take that 400k freed up off the 2.3, it becomes 1.9 mill, or 633k a year.

If you give him the entirety of the long serving player allowance for '23 and beyond, 188k/year, that contract becomes 445k a year for 3 years.

Then, you get Newcastle to happily accept that contract, or even pay him slight overs and he moves on for 23, with a new contract completely covered. Though the long-serving allowance obviously become null and void if the player isn't around to receive it I'm assuming.

Even if he stays then, Brooks on 445k a year for the next 3 years is hardly disgusting business, even with his clear shortcomings.

Either way, despite the fact I'm certain these numbers aren't accurate, but more of a super-rough estimate, it shows the benefit of moving the money around, even possibly extending, to achieve a particular outcome.

Being ethical has cost us many good players and a big reason why we're down the bottom. It's time to stop being a soft touch and start being more ruthless.

Speaking from a legal perspective if it's just a handshake, you're correct. But, the reports at the time said he signed a contract. The only issue is whether Manly have registered it. If he signed a contract, he's bound legally and morally. Of course, even if it's just a handshake he's bound morally but why would anyone honour a handshake agreement these days. Sad indictment of society.

Let's not jump ahead, Kelma had a good game on the weekend but that was by product of him getting some good ball off the back of space being created in the middle to allow him to be in 1-1 situations with Reynolds.

Before that he had been really bog ordinary and his involvement in some games non existent he just hasn't been prepared to do the hard work & help the team out with a run.

I would have no problems with him staying but I'm not cut up about him leaving either.

Tumeth has a strong running game and is a noted try scorer. Kautoga also has a strong running game and will score tries while O'Kane is a very good runner of the ball. While they are not ready for the NRL, all are of great potential and could fill the role performed by Tuilagi.

Kautoga physically looks the most ready for nrl, looka much bigger than Kane and tumeth
