Isaiah Papali’i #265

This is going to get messy in the off season. He clearly doesn’t want to come. You just don’t say these types of things if you are planning on honouring your contract.

We can’t under any circumstances let him out of his contract. If he says he has mental health issues - fine we’ll help you through them and get you expert help. When your ready you can play. If he wants to keep pushing just tell him we’ll just pay you to sit at home until you’re ready to come in. He’s a footballer if he doesn’t play he doesn’t get future work.

My gut feeling is that we are looking to secure Schuster, if that happens Papalii will be released. Then we have to hope and prey Schuster will work hard on himself and his game, and also be willing to play backrow. Just a feeling that this is going on on the background.
That would be a severe downgrade and will set us back significantly. Schuster is like that bludger Fifita at the Titans.

Mate I hope you are right but it seems that clubs dont want to sign players who don't want to play for them, and no one will support making a player of that calibre sit out. It's a real catch 22 we need these type of players to improve our team but getting them when they have better options and changing the perception of the club is falling on deaf ears.
We at least agree on both hoping I'm right. I recall two or three years ago a Swans player, Tom Papley, made it absolutelky clear he wanted to go to another club. The Swans absolutely stood firm to the point where it threatened to get really ugly. Today, Tom Papley is an intrinsic part of the Swans and one of their best. My point is that making IP play for us may not start well but can end well if the player feels wanted, is well paid and part of a happy club.

As someone said a few pages back, the player market is 100% controlled by the parasites, the management groups control who plays where and when they play there. Contracts mean very little to them, except when a player try’s to break a contract with them, than all hell breaks out.

Clubs are scared and often blackmailed by the management groups and for some reason unknown, the NRL sit back and watch them take absolute control of their biggest asset, the players.

Odds are we will see another backflip and we will see the NRL sit back and do what they are told to by the management groups

If we had any nuts, which we don’t, we’d pull the old Storm like for like line out. We’ll let him out if we get another international forward. Junior Paulo anyone?

eh, he's got a contract. that's that. I wish he'd put it to bed but he hasn't so we wait til November when he turns up for pre-season training. pretty different to the Matterson and Aloiai situations, plus our management has changed.

Sheens is judge, jury and executioner here. I doubt he even entertains the thought of Papali'i being able to backflip. the bloke's on a good contract with a decent amount of security with an improving roster and a clear plan for the future. Parramatta's premiership window is about to shut while ours will open in a couple years. choose wisely, Ice.

Yep. This is more than just signing Pap. He comes regardless and no player or player manager ever uses our club as leveridge again.
This is the line in the sand moment, which side do we end up on, we at the moment are pulling downhill with a 60 knot wind behind us, we have every single advantage, we shouldn't lose, but we all know what history tells us

Where is this Schuster to us rumour coming from? Just from the player angst over the pride jersey?
attitude stinks and on the nose with Des. tbh I'd steer well clear, players like that don't sort their shit out coming to WT, irrespective of how talented he is. needs a Bellamy to give him a rocket.

For anyone who cares Noffa played the same card on triple m on Sunday. I couldn’t care less on that front.

Agree...time to tell the rest of the NRL and player managers that we are done with being used. Lee, Justin and Tim must stand up and not cave!

This bloke is starting to annoy me big time. He needs a lesson in contract law from either the NRL or WT, preferrably the NRL. Why isn't someone in the media just saying to this knob "you signed a contract, you've committed". I'd add "you idiot" but that's just me.
You're right he needs to get a lesson in contract law from the NRL which unfortunately isn't all that likely to happen.

Not much point in expecting any lessons from our mob because they constantly roll over like a weak gutted dog. (thanks Sticky, that description is starting to grow on me)

Such a weak management and board and if the old saying of winning starting in the front office has any truth to it then it might just go a long way to explaining some of our on field performances.
